Maybe I will like the character but her design is just horrendous IMO

Melt's design is Very Extra (haw haw haw) but it's very neat how hard it goes on emphasizing her balletic inclinations. It's a grotesque parody of a ballet dancer and it's 100% on purpose.

Though I am not into her design, Gawain and I will absolutely defend her from this Tristan bastard who seems to be my adversary no matter what TF I'm doing. Bring it, red. I have the upgraded version of you on my team.

A lot of the music is either directly from Fate/Extra CCC which is where BB, Melt, etc. originated from, or a remix of it, or designed to be in keeping with it.

Is Fate/Extra CCC this eerie and unsettling, or is it because they moved the setting over to "our"/the real world that makes this event so scary?

I'm probably overdoing it on the Lore videos, but I paused the Shimousa one and now have a desire to watch the CCC/Extra one.

It's not. CCC has eerie elements but SE.RA.PH works as well as it does because the villain is, fundamentally, given the 'horror movie bad guy' presentation, and it's done masterfully. There's a joke that goes something like 'Any time the Pillar Women Theme starts playing, drop everything and RUN' and it's on point. If you know which track that refers to, you understand why.

Oh, that's where that comes from. Saw it in a couple videos for challenge quests and just assumed it was forever unavailable, which would've sucked given how useful it is in a game with very little active character swapping.

I was lucky enough to get Poster Girl from a banner early on in my account's lifetime - might have been its last or second-to-last banner too. Though Outrage has a lower cost to use it's kept me from feeling I had to get it. Plus I don't use Taunt strategies that often. even when i probably should.

also probably shouldn't say that right now since one of those rare occasions was the ultra high nero cq in the current event lol

I'm not sure which song you mean, but I do know that the sound design for the whole event so far has been incredible. BB's creepy game show vibe, mixed with everything involving Kiara sounding like it has someone moaning in the background of it is incredibly good.

I'll post the tune once you're deeper in. It's instantly recognizable, and yes, it has this kind of low chanting in the background that makes it sound super ominous. An absolute banger tune in a soundtrack with a bunch of banger tunes to begin with IMO.

I didn't even realize it until I did their NPs back to back that I had both Gawain versions in my team for a minute lol.

That Passionlip fight was crazy.

First time I've ever really had to break out Oberon and lord did he help. Though I'm still not too sure what the purpose of his third skill is.

The purpose of his third skill is to kill an enemy/wave in one hit. It gives the biggest damage increase of any skill in the game.

Yeah, it's the single biggest damage buff in the game so it's mainly used to delete an enemy - generally as a battle finisher since if the battle continues it makes the Servant you used it on useless for the rest of the encounter (though I guess not entirely useless since it does put a taunt on them so it could buy a turn or two for the rest of your team.)

You really have to know how to pilot him. This is the second time i've used his NP first in a chain and invalidated the other ones -_-

Not only is she Grade A fetish fuel, but Kiara is one of the most terrifying villains I've ever come up against. The way she flipped it around on Zepar like that is very scary.

I got Kiara on a GSSR, she's cool. One of my favorite Fate villains for sure.

Yeah, I've done it on Hard - pre-Castoria even - just a complete stallfest with BB and friends that lasted like 80 turns lol. Though IIRC she's actually a harder fight if you take only the one KP item that knocks her out of that form but none of the others so she still has all the other abilities. I don't think I fought that version.

I wish the KP grinding fights through the level offered other rewards since I'm gonna just go through and do all of them.

I have a really bad gameplay issue where I don't activate Guts coz I know I've got an evade or an invin turn, and then I forget to activate it moving forward. It has cost me so many Morgan or Herc NPs and I get furious every time because they'll die right as they're getting to 100% and if I'd just turned on Guts on turn 1 like I should've it could've been avoided. Stupid.

There's actually two different forms of hard mode. The obvious one is just not turning any of the buffs on. The real ultra hard mode is turning the first debuff on and then keeping everything else off, and it is an absolutely viciously difficult mess of a challenge. I've done both!

When I was talking about the pillar women theme, this is the one. It's Kiara's signature theme.

The FGO remix of that theme is one of my absolute favorites in the entire game.

No KP spent Kiara isn't actually that hard you just need to hardcore stall.
1 KP spent Kiara I tried once and noped out.

I can't believe the game has such a stigma just because of the gacha. I've put money into it yeah, but only like 200 over the course of like 4 months now? It's probably gonna go up once Morgan's banner starts but that isn't too bad compared to other hobbies, AND I get to experience an incredible mf story.

I don't want to know how much money ive put into the game.

It's definitely in the thousands. I don't spend as much as some, though.

If FGO was not a gacha game it would be as revered as something like Final Fantasy 14 in online circles for sure. The gacha complaints are fair, but the game has done its damnedest to earn people's praise in spite of it.

My one big complaint about FGO at least as someone who played from the global launch up through the end of Epic of Remnant is that for how huge the game is/was, they really did the absolute bare minimum of reinvesting their profits. Like look at something like Honkai Impact 3rd and how horrifically crusty it was at first versus what it became. By all rights FGO should have frequent fully animated cutscenes, full voice acting, massively improved presentation with regular CGs, etc but instead everyone was losing their mind if an event had like, a single voiced scene or even a single CG. Animation updates are nice and everything but man a story this good really deserves better than how it's presented given the ludicrous amount of money the game makes.

They fixed that a lot. Not having voice is a choice to not bloat the game size because just the valentines updates added like...ten gigs to the game size, but CGs are very common these days. Important segments also get animated battle sequences, too.

No, it's factual that voice is by far the biggest thing as far as bloating game size goes. The models and artwork are like a tiny chunk of the filesizes by comparison.

There are fully voiced gacha games with similar amounts of text to FGO, though. They're not massive, since they use proper compression. CGs are still super rare too, as are animated battle sequences (which are mostly just a character using their NP in the battle engine, not a proper anime cutscene).

I don't feel like CGs are rare. I'm going over my screenshot folder and LB6 had something like thirty to forty at a quick glance. It's a fairly decent chunk. As for games with equivalent text amounts...I frankly cannot think of any. FGO story updates just dwarf anyone else's stuff. Lostbelt 6 was 600k words, for reference (to its detriment IMO cause it was too padded, but hey). Who else is pumping out even half that many story-relevant lines into their content updates?

It wasn't actually that difficult. BB final ascension get. From what I'm reading she's actually very useful. Not much that hits Moon Cancers very hard.

I went through Melt's dialogue lines and BOY do you wanna talk about heartbreaking the way she doesn't remember Ritsuka and is just straight up mean to him the entire time. :(

The SERAPH rerun (when it as an actual event still) was one where I had been saving SQ for someone (...Reines? Ilya? I'd have to check the schedule) coming up soon and I didn't think anyone here would tempt me. Then I did the story and 100% had to roll for Melt. Thankfully I got Melt and it didn't disrupt whatever plans I had.

Over/Under 100 spins for me to get Morgan.

I'm betting it's gonna take me up to 200.

100 rolls is close to the 50/50 mark (~55% of getting the target)

but the desire sensor is real so i will also say over. the gacha knows when you really want a servant and that's when it goes for the throat

and if you get lucky and obtain without too much trouble, it's just kicking the bad luck can down the road.
