As a fighting game fan myself it's actually... Surprisingly good. Pretty fun game in general

I'm glad we ended up talking about Idol Showdown, otherwise I would have been very disappointed in this group.

Finally put hands on it last night. It's legit. Not quite sure which game it's aping the most, but I'm getting ArcSys feels from it as inspiration, what with the strikers and the Burst and all.

Funny that what got me to start it up is watching Mumei try to work the controls. She was struggling with the special move cancel and I'm thinking to myself, it can't be that hard, can it? So just so I knew for myself I booted it up and went through the tutorial, then I played around with Koro-san for funsies.

It looks legit better than many 'official' fighting games tbh.

It's really fun. Simple to learn while still being fairly deep.

This is true, and something pretty much every fighting game struggles with. Kinda hope it gets looked at by the industry. Even though it's a fan game it's so well put together for accessibility.

idol showdown has broken local multiplayer and a few things that feel really bad in terms of game balance

but it's still fun

It's a cool game, but with some weird bugs (if you have Num Lock enabled, trying to map the arrow keys will register them as "Print Screen" for some reason)

That's how it goes for fan games usually, they all have weird issues somewhere initially. Oddly enough it's still not the jankiest fighter I've played despite the relatively quick dev cycle for one, too.

Yeah but Roboco's already a striker. I gotta imagine they're not upgrading strikers to fully playable.

Also I doubt they'll put in characters who already have considerable representation in the game already. So no Ollie, no Reine, no AZKi, given their prominence in VF.
