Finally decided to watch the first John Wick. Man, that's how you do a "roaring rampage of revenge" movie. And there's three more like this? Sold.

Hell yeah John Wick.

The remaining three are a bit different in some ways, but they're all great imo.

On Prime Video. I actually got a 10 dollar credit because they were doing a promotion on diapers (for some reason), so we decided we'd use it to rent the first three Wick movies.

Beat all 8 Robot Masters in Mega Man 11 (and the trophy I got for doing so boosted me up to Trophy Level 300 on PSN, to boot!). I don't know if the levels were easier or I just got used to the game, but I didn't struggle as much with the last four. Let's see what the Wily levels are like this time around.

also wow once you can purchase the item that increases the drop rate of bolts, it really trivializes keeping your inventory stocked between levels, so that was probably a big part of it

Mega Man 11 beated! The Wily stages honestly weren't too bad this time around, neither were the Wily fights themselves.

Robot Master rankings: Blast Man > Fuse Man > Bounce Man > Block Man > Tundra Man > Impact Man > Acid Man > Torch Man

Weapon rankings: Block Dropper > Acid Barrier > Bounce Ball > Chain Blast > Tundra Storm > Scramble Thunder > Blazing Torch > Pile Driver

The top 4 were all really useful, but Block Dropper was super handy at taking out enemies that were otherwise out of reach. Top tier weapon for the entire series in terms of usefulness, honestly.

Overall, MM11 probably ranks in the middle of the series. I don't remember my overall rankings from when I played through all the games a couple years ago (beyond 9 and 2 being the best), so I don't know how I'd insert it there.

Kaguya-sama: Love is War Special complete!

Pretty good adaptation! It did feel like the other characters didn't appear as much, but at the same time, I get it. This is a key point in the Shinomiya/Shirogane relationship, so it warrants some extra focus.

I started Disco Elysium. I did the boring thing with my character build and just evenly distributed my 12 points among the four categories, with Encyclopedia as my focus. I'm generally not a risk taker with this sort of thing, so I opt for average or balance.

We'll see how this goes!

that... makes sense yeah. my partner and i have issues spending the few dollars it costs to rent a movie and will instead scroll endlessly even though ponying up is a seemingly better option all the time

doggo emergency narrowly avoided... I think.

Yesterday was a really stressful and scary day for me. Got up in the morning and she was crying and couldn't stand up under her own power. She'd make the motions with her legs as if trying to get up, but couldn't manage to do much more than getting from lying on her side to her belly that way. It reminded me a lot of how one of my past dogs got as his condition deteriorated in old age with his back legs going out... only in this case it's like she skipped the year+ of progression and had it all happen inside 12-24 hours.

Brought her to the vet and they couldn't find anything obvious on her X-Rays but the medication they gave her got her a bit better so she came back with us at night (she was there the afternoon) and since she could walk a bit better we walked her to go to the bathroom and she pooped out a sock.

I have no clue where she got it from (she's a known sock thief so most of us are very careful about making sure she can't get anywhere near them) but given how very, fatally badly that could have gone she somehow managed to pass it through herself. Seems almost back to normal this morning. There's a follow-up with the vet later today (they closed just before we could tell them last night) so hopefully this was the cause and things should be okay from now on.

Wow, that is scary. Thankfully our doggo has never been prone to eating non-food items, so we haven't had to deal with that. Hopefully yours is through the worst of it!

I have no idea. I mean, they showed us the X-rays too, and I didn't see it either. I guess they just don't show up on them?

Like we saw a speck in her intestines that we think is a fragment of a bone toy she chewed off (and the vet said it's no big deal) but the sock? lol

Wheel of Time book 14 beated, and that means series complete! First half of the book was a bit of a slog, but once it got going, it was certainly a worthy conclusion to an epic series.

Might try to do some sort of character ranking later on when I have time to think through it.

This isn't a great time for me Nintendo! I'm not ready! IRL stuff meant I only just finished my Zero replay for Ao yesterday. I thought we were on more of a June/July trajectory! god and then there's botw2. i am dead.

Glad I don't have to worry about that because I'll be busy enough between Zelda, FFXVI, and Reverie!

A Memory of Light is my favorite book. I'd definitely say it's more flawed than 12 or 13, but the emotional moments are incredible, and it has so many awesome scenes. Even introduces great new plotlines like Androl's.

The Mandalorian Season 3 complete!

Having a midair battle with jetpacks was pretty sweet. Overall, this felt like a pretty safe season, not necessarily in a bad way. It just didn't seem like a lot happened. Wonder if they're holding some stuff back for the upcoming movie.

Haha, I like that you've got a few antagonists on minor characters instead of antagonists (notably the bottom four).

Verin is great yeah.

I like Graendal a good amount. Probably my fav of the forsaken.

Faile in last perfectly logical for the main characters. I'd have Min a few spots higher tho.

Any characters your opinions changed on throughout the series?

I wouldn't say any major shifts, but Mat definitely grew on me as the books went along. Galad, too.

Man, it's hard to believe my son is turning 1 tomorrow. Feels like this year has flown by.

He's actually been a great sleeper, fortunately for us. He's been sleeping through the night for months now. Even when he wakes up in the middle of the night, he's pretty easy to get back to sleep.

I'm still thinking about doing a list of "Most Exciting Wins and Most Painful Losses as a Sports Fan" at some point. Maybe it's something I can save and share with my son when he gets older so he knows what he's getting into if he chooses to become a fan of my teams...!

Maybe he won't care about sports at all, or maybe a worse fate will befall him and he'll become a fan of Illinois teams!

It was a lot of fun. We also did a Smash cake, although he didn't do much smashing. He just dug into a small part of the cake and ate a little bit.

Our fear was that he'd try to dump it on the floor because that's the phase he's in. He loves to throw things or drop things when he's done with them, but thankfully, that didn't happen.

Gonna see Suzume in about an hour! Luckily it was showing in a theater relatively close to me

I was pretty shocked when it turned out the movie was referring to the 2011 earthquake. The realization sort of hit me when I saw the trucks moving around "contaminated soil" and connected it with how Suzume's party was around the location of Fukushima at the time. I only knew the rough time of the year it happened so I didn't get the meaning of "March 11" in the diary until I looked up the date after the movie.

Ah yeah I didn't realize that until I read the wikipedia article after the movie!
