Chargers put themselves in that position but technically the Raiders were risking elimination by kicking that FG if it were blocked or short + returned for a TD against guaranteed playoffs if they didn't call timeout.

Was there doubt that the Cowboys play was from the coaches? Like you could argue McCarthy vs Moore on who I suppose but no way Dak just improvised that and audibled out of a playcall to that on the fly in that situation lol.

Man this was not a very fun day of football to watch. Two predictable blowouts with great teams being forced to play garbage teams because of the playoff expansion, and then two incompetent coaches trying to out blow the game and embarrass themselves each other.

Nah I'm all about it. More players calling out bad officiating. More fans calling out bad officiating. More officials fleeing in terror when they've had bad games.

Get better at your jobs and maybe you wouldn't have a bloodthirsty mob throwing shit at you tbh.

This is across all sports tbh. I almost fucking never watch a sporting event these days and don't see some sort of egregious abortion of the rules happening because of officials who are supposed to be good at their job. If I was as bad as most referees at my job I'd have been fired so long ago.

That ending wasnt the refs fault and the Cowboys cant just line up wherever the hell they want without the ref setting where the ball is supposed to go.

Like Dak tried to place the ball where he stopped instead of where he started his slide, the line blocked the ref desperately trying to get through to give them another shot, and if the ref had tried to go around the line instead it wouldve taken even more time.

Unless you mean they deserved it because of the whole game, but I dont think SF benefitted egregiously from bad calls and that wasnt even close to the worst officiated game this weekend.

Actually no. It's been established that when you run 2 minute drills in practice, you always have an actual referee present or a delegated assistant serving the role of referee.

If they were practicing such a play without that part, every single coach on the offense needs to be fired.

The way this endgame was botched has cost Kellan Moore any chance of getting a head coaching gig this season. Not that he'd have been a good hire to begin with. The Cowboys' lack of discipline already has showcased that he's not ready to be in charge of a team at his age (even though I know that's not JUST his fault, but still).

At least Jerry Jones is handling this very maturely: "The team shouldn't have been in position for that last play to be something controversial, so I'm not going to make it something bigger than it is." In other words, he's holding Prescott, Moore, and McCarthy accountable for being behind to begin with.

Cowboys fans throwing debris at the refs is pathetic. The refs didn't botch anything. Dak would've had enough time to spike if he had handed a ref the ball instead of placing it where he wanted it. Could have saved two seconds.

Interesting thing I noticed.
Watching the Bengals/Raiders game, the 2nd Bengals TD, while live, the whistle occurred very clearly when the ball was just about in the receiver's hands if not touching them already.

Watching twitter reposts, the whistle sometimes occurs before the ball crosses into the endzone.

Anyone else seeing stuff like this?

Honestly, as someone who was watching it live, the replay confused me because I thought I remembered hearing the whistle right after Burrow threw it, which made me think he had stepped out of bounds before releasing the ball. Hearing the whistle right before the catch in replays made me think maybe I was just misremembering.

Try going better than 23-43.

Try not missing several open receivers on plays you weren't pressures.

Try to learn the rules of the game you play, and take some responsibility for the loss.

That aggressive, deflecting BS though? The maturity and mentality aren't there. He's been in the league long enough that they, along with that game knowledge, should be there.

Everything about Dak's day triggers alarm bells. He needed to carry the team, had the opportunity to, couldn't execute, and blamed other people for it.

Jerry knows this was a team wide failure. We haven't heard one other Cowboy mature enough to accept they did this to themselves.

I don't think the Cowboys are any threat whatsoever to win a Super Bowl with their current core. They beat themselves and can't accept it's their fault.

Not that I thought they were much of one before the game either, given I didn't pick them to win it.

I said this before the game and it bears repeating: If the Cowboys were in the NFC West they're at best the 7 if they even make it at all. 49ers in the East would've been the 2.

The refs ran because they knew exactly how fanbases react in this scenario. They made the right call and did their jobs but how dare they not show bias toward the home team. Dak is not recognizing that. HE cost the team two seconds that could've been used to spike the ball with a second left on the clock. HE should take responsibility for not handing the ball to the ref. Instead he's acting like an immature twit... and so is McCarthy, and McCarthy should know better.

ESPN even has the headline: "Could Dallas fire Mike McCarthy?" so it's clearly being discussed but we'll see if that's what Jerry Jones is thinking.

P.S. I think we should name the next topic "NFL Playoffs Discussion Topic 2" or something to that effect. For the playoffs, that's probably better since there are fewer games and a more coherent storyline, so we don't need to separate them by week like during the regular season.

The Cowboys got the snap off in time! All they had to do was have the presence of mind to kill the spike call and audible into an immediate last ditch pass.

After all that, they STILL had a chance, and they STILL couldn't get it right. That's 100% on Dak for his lack of clock awareness.
