Names that existed long prior to this character, but said character became so big and popular that they have basically become that name's identity. Like you see that name and no matter how many real people have the name, you automatically think of the character. And if you're a parent even thinking of naming your kid that in the 21st century you better be ready for everyone and their mother to make some sort of connection to the character and potentially teasing from other kids (though to be fair, most of the ones I can think of off the top of my head are long out-of-style anyway).

Some that I can think of:
Elmo
Garfield
Grover
Hermione
Homer
Kirby
Mario
Mickey
Zelda

Leonardo DiCaprio too.

Dante and Drake maybe for gamers but I don't think they've nearly reached the universal icon status that non-gamers would instantly think of them they way they might think of Mario or Zelda.

Jason is just way too common a name in general.

Ariel, Barbie, Buffy, Elsa, Kermit and Luigi are all good picks and a few of them crossed my mind but wasn't sure just how iconic they were compared to the names themselves.

I think Mario's too common a name to count for this. Arguably Mickey too.

I'd argue Bart and Marge count, though they're more borderline than Homer.

You just think it is because we're all old and our peers were mostly named before Friday the 13th ruined the name for everyone

It used to consistently be among the most popular US boy names of the year. It was in the top 10 for 13 years, including a 5-year run at #2 from 1974-1978. Then in 1984 it fell out of the top 10 and has been dropping continuously ever since. It's not even in the top 100 anymore.

I think the fact that the name is part of a famous catchphrase helps its case

Kenny is not that popular a name here in the UK so maybe it would be more relevant here
