The "Don't block if you're going to make topics" agreement is in reference to petty arguments/disagreements between two people. No, it pretty much literally came about over a spat me and Chris had in a non-politics topic where Chris blocked me. Everybody else had to tell him to unblock me, we talked it over and worked the hard feelings out, and we all basically agreed not to block each other over stuff like that.

I understand the intention of the policy in principle, and I agree... in general. There are some cases that are egregious enough to deserve exceptions. Of relevant people, I only have Ulti, red sox, and Nanis blocked. Ulti, for obvious reasons. Red sox, because he, clearly and self-admittedly, has no interest in carrying out discussions in good faith, and contributes nothing at all positive to these topics. Nanis, for reasons I've described. Trust me on this one. He was in an hour long discussion on the Discord why you should call people by their preferred pronouns and he just couldn't get it. It's a simple argument. He refused to empathize the tiny amount to comprehend the reasons why you should. Not even the reasons why people may choose another pronoun. The reasons why it could be hurtful to deliberately call them something else, to treat them with, quite literally, the bare minimum of respect. He will not contribute anything here, besides acting as a contrary opinion generator, because he will not attempt to accept, at all, the validity of a way of thinking foreign to him. I feel zero guilt in blocking him, or the other two users, while having created the topic. He has long since lost the privilege

the topic is cancer and i highly advise you don't take it too personal. might be difficult at times but always have one foot out if possible. there's some good in it but it gets toxic really quick.

i think that's not even limited to discord, it sounds familiar enough that it also probably happened in here. at least the part of his not understanding it. but ultimately that's still just a difference of opinion with stubbornness, something you find a moral wrong to be viewed as morally indifferent.
