Just won a game as Quest Mage against Raynad on Murloc Pally that, among other things, literally involved my casting Spikeridged Steed on a Doomsayer while he had exactly 12 possible power on the board.

I love this game.

EDIT: watched the vod back from Raynad's side. He actually said at one point "why hasn't he killed me yet?"

The answer was that I had three randomly generated Cabalist Tomes, 8 cards in hand, and was 5/6 on the quest. Rip me. Not as much as him, obviously, but still.

Just saw a video Kripp posted about how good Jaina is.

He beat a rank 22 player who piloted C'Thun druid dubiously, lucked into key cards with glyph, and then had just the right damage cards to set all of his opponent's stuff to 1 to make elementals out of them.

Y'know, Kripp, I hear Galvadon can be pretty good, too...

Had a match where I geist a jade druid on turn 6.

Flash forward to like turn 13 or something. I play glimmerroot and get... Jade Idol. The next turn I use panda to bounce it back and get... Fandral.

took a few days but I ironed out a good midrange hunter deck

wish I had DK Rexxar for the top end but this is still pretty good

Made DK Rexxar and dumped him into my existing hunter deck with a few minor tweaks. Took me easily from 20 > 17 but all the matches I won, I won without needing him. And all the matches I lost, I lost after playing him. Just a sign my deck is too fast I guess.

It certainly is fun but doesn't feel as impactful as other heroes. Every other hero that came out against me, beat me. May also be because I wasn't offered any silly combos too. Think the best I got was a poisonous dispatch lot I

Probably more a case of my deck not being suited to it

Also bearshark is super fun if you get an adapt and/or taunt on it

Actually I did get a fun card yesterday. It was a 7/7 stealth that I then adapted to give windfury.

no bearshark in my deck. hunter has too many great 3 drops already and it literally dies to 2 drops.

and yeah I haven't had any trouble winning matches or anything. I just feel like if I had the option to drop DK Rexxar late in the game it might give me a slight chance to come back and win the games that are otherwise unwinnable for me right now.

The thing with Jaina is

-Lifesteal doesn't matter as much as you think in control matchups
-Alexing your face on an empty board has a similar effect against Aggro. (Or your opponent's to close out the game)

Seems like the true value comes from the ele generation in my eyes. But that can be hard to consistently do against big minions

Yea I find that the lifesteal actually doesn't really matter much in control. It ends up being a battle of math and getting elementals out to overwhelm.

It's especially silly in the mirror.

this is pretty annoying yeah but it's the combined factor that even IF you could do anything they wouldn't die anyway because mage exclusively can break the rules of the game and stay alive when you drop their life to 0

I know that it doesn't make ice block less OP, but eater of secrets really does screw over a freeze mage's gameplan super hard, before KotF I can't tell you how many times I ran into a mirror match where I won because I had teched in eater of secrets. If someone (ulti I presume) really does have such a grudge against ice block then why not run at least one?

I only drop Bearshark on to empty boards or behind taunts when I have control. It's situationally good I guess. It can be a pain to remove in the right conditions

I also need to teach myself to play around defile as it's caught me out a few times now

Point is you shouldn't have to run 1 certain card at all times because one build is so good/frustrating. It's kind of like skulking geist I guess. Meta should balance itself out, not just have a 1 card answer because of bad balance

Is anyone running BGH again? Seem to be running into a lot of big minions so thinking about it.

Pretty sure Bearshark was only created so that build-a-beast could have that effect.

I've only played against Elemage but the lifesteal is pretty significant, really gives life to a class that has never had anything like this before.

Yeah I was thinking about geist basically being the same thing, I agree that you shouldn't have to, I'm just of the mindset that at least a counter exists. Someone can gripe about the state of ice block/jade all they want and it's warranted, but choosing not to use a counter just because they shouldn't "have" to/don't want to also feels a little "Bringing it on themselves" to me. Just my two cents. Isn't that how the meta evolves anyway? I don't know if it's different in HS but I always thought the natural evolution was "One build excels, people tech in counters, that build no longer excels. Repeat"

The worst thing is that Jade Druid has shifted from being control to being tempo, so they don't even need the idols anymore. Most don't even run Auctioneer. The DK picks up the slack and Ultimate Infestation gives them the missing value.

Geist was an awesome counter to the Jade Druid of last expansion, but does literally nothing against the new version.

That is a good point. Most jades I've run into seem to be the old ones, but I'm only rank 10 so maybe it's in the higher up ranks.

eater of secrets is a bad card so that's not really a great argument either. an effective counter to ice block does not exist, because including eater of secrets in your deck list will cause you to lose significantly more games than it will win for you.

it's just not a valid card to actually run in a constructed deck, so it may as well not even exist

If Jade Druid doesn't run Jade Idol then it literally is not the same deck and has none of reasons why everyone hated Jade Druid.

It runs Idol. It doesn't run the infinite loop package. It just beats your face in on turn 7 instead of turn 18.

A Freeze Shaman that runs Nat Pagle had me on the ropes for a while. And I only won because he ran Nat Pagle and I just kept it during fatigue. >_>

Had an epic game against frost lich jaina last night. Could have pulled it out until his one DK card was death grip and he stole an arcane giant.

It also hurt a lot when Baron Geddon cleared the board and healed him for 18 at the same time.

The counter to Quest Mage is aggro. Yes, it's good against super greedy decks that don't intend to do anything for the first several turns. If you're running into hosts of Quest Mages, play something more aggressive.

Weird. I guess in my dozens of flares I've just literally never hit a Counterspell. That's funny because I've always played it boldly assuming it beat Counterspell lol.

Battlecry > Secret > Spell on priority

If you really want to play slow decks and beat Quest Mage, Rat may actually be the better tech card (Though Mage now has Simulacrum so I don't know if that matters as much)
