you know, one thing I've always thought is that Chrono Cross should have had five-character parties like Suikoden. With a cast over half that of a Suikoden game and so little time to develop any of them ANYWAY, it may as well have gone all out. That'd make choosing a party so much easier, too, but it's stupid how little most of the characters actually respond to the game's events, so...
anyway, I like to use Kid, Glenn, Riddel and, of all people, Norris. Sometimes I fling people like Pip into my party too -- the really weird ones. I also like to use what's-her-face early on, the spatula chick from Arni. Her magic stat is really impressive for the beginning, as I recall.

I just realized I don't remember most of their names
I would alternate between the Jester Skeleton, Fargo, the purple hair ax guy. I used Kid alot too. actually I think I always had Kid or Fargo in there most of the time for stealing. sometimes I would throw in the Blonde Martial Artist Twin chick in there I used the Scarecrow thing alot until I got a better replacement.
I used Norris ALOT but I didn't like him at all. I think I used him cause he was the best member I got Post Transformation
in other playthroughs, I would use Glenn, Magus, and The surfer doctor

Also Kid is terrible, so you should want to keep her out of your party as much as possible. You mean stats-wise or character-wise? I don't feel like she's terrible character-wise, because up until later on in the game she lacks depth, anyway. She only has a speck more depth than, say, KorCHA earlier on.

Serge/Nikki/Kid was my party last playthru. Nikki hits surprisingly hard for me. He has higher strength then Serge for some reason. He's still so meh tho. He makes the story a little better compared to Guile and Pierre tho. Altho both of them are way better in Battle then Nikki IMO.
Man, so much Norris love. I had no idea. For some reason I always thought that was just a weird Jeff Zero thing.
Does Pierre get better or something? I have two of his medals right now and he still kind of sucks. I never took Pierre's path when I was a kid so I figured I would, and it was kind of incredibly fast which made it boring. But at least I got to fight Ketchop, I guess.

As for Pierre. He gets really OP. He's the strongest Blue innate endgame. Has a massive evade rate, crits a lot, 1.2 stamina, good stats thanks to getting a 20% boost with his full set putting him around the highest Str characters, Is blue innate (Best color).
The obvious weaknesses of Pierre are like he starts out super weak. (As you level him he catches up but is still below average.) end game Pierre with standard equips is even really strong. Hero Set is better tho. He's good. I think if you want the Strongest party possible. It's Pierre/Glenn. (Serge doesn't count. Since he's required.) Might be Pierre/Sprigg but I kinda doubt it.
But yea. Dude sucks early on. Guile hits like a trunk with his Level 3 tech.
