Makes sense that since Giant Bomb gets to be all independent, so should GameFAQs. Hopefully this means cool stuff in our future.
I've been using the alternate logo that already didn't have the Gamespot branding ever since it was available so I didn't notice the change earlier today.

I don't think Bacon has anything to do with it. that's John Davison doing good work to differentiate the sites instead of trying to smush them all into one big video game conglomerate.

CJayC sold for $2.2 million. He got ripped off because he sold near the bottom of the market for internet companies in 2003. If he'd waited until say, 2006 or 2007, he'd likely have gotten a lot more. And if he'd been prescient enough to sell at the insane internet bubble peak in late 1999 or early 2000, he's be mega-rich now. Like Mitt Romney rich.

Congratulations to SuperNiceDog, Guru Winner, who was smart enough to pick your 7 time champion, Link.
I've been using the SpotFAQs skin for over a year now, so I didn't notice either!

From his looks Magus is Macho Man Randy Savage as an anime zombie. The black wind howls, and one of you will snap into a Slim Jim ooh yeeeah! -sonicblastpunch
I've gotta wonder if there was more to the story (like Gamefaqs had racked up a lot of debt prior to 2003- though I'm not sure what would create capital expenditures for which Gamefaqs would need a lot of debt), because 2.2M seems jawdroppingly low for this site at the time. It was still growing rapidly at that point. Sucks to sell at a general market bottom I guess.

I don't get the impression that CJayC was a terrific business man and I don't imagine CNET wanted to spend a ton of money on this site. I don't know every detail but it looked like he got his millions and got to keep his job and whatever that entailed for compensation.
