Really wouldn't surprise me if what ends up happening is if you live in a region where you cannot have PSN you'll still be able to play without it but if you are in a region where you can have PSN then you'll be required to have PSN.

I'm pretty sure most of those games get backlash too. I specifically remember a Ubisoft game on the Free Games board here that was being distributed for free but the catch is that you had to download their launcher and most people just skipped it.
