The Last Hope is the only Star Ocean game I ever completed, and I loved every bit of it.

The PS3 International version is way better than the original 360 version. I didn't realize they were re-making it for PS4, but I just may buy it again if the remaster adds worthwhile content.

At any rate, it is VERY underrated. I don't think you'll regret your purchase, TC.

I need to go back and attempt playing the actual arcade versions of several SNES games I played growing up. Back then, most of us only had access to home consoles for certain games, and the console versions were severely gimped in comparison to the actual arcade versions (Cruisn USA, Altered Beast, KI, TMNT, etc.).

Of course, this is partially because Arcade machines supported full-blown hard drives in them, while there's only so much you can pack onto a SNES cartridge. But still I feel like I owe it to myself to experience some of these classics in full arcade glory!

Also, while Steam is DRM, games aren't forced to use it. The Witcher 3 download doesn't. If you were to uninstall Steam and go to the Witcher 3 folder, it would run fine. :P

That's valid. GOG tends to excel on the "classic" games, like the original "Jedi Knight" on pc. The Steam version charges you extra for the expansion, and it takes whole bunch of community patches just to get it to run properly on Steam. The GOG version bundles the expansion for free, and has the community patches pre-installed to run well on modern systems.

So it really boils down to the game, as you said. If we're talking about Jedi Knight, GOG is much better. If we're talking about Witcher 3, Steam is going to be more convenient (though GOG has a whole mess of extra content like documentaries, full soundtrack, high-res maps, artbooks, wallpapers, avatars, comics, and other goodies). But, if you don't care about any of that stuff, Steam's convenience is going to win out.

I have dealt with everything from boot disks to Steam, from in-game copy protection to fucking Securom, and I can say without a doubt that Steam as a game platform and DRM (which by definition it barely is since it allows you to hack and pirate games freely) is the easiest to use and the less intrusive. Even compared to most other PC game clients like Galaxy, Uplay, Origin, Battle.net, and XBox Live it is miles better.

Well, like I was saying to Delta, I agree that the raw convenience of Steam is unmatched. It really is the smoothest service when it comes to ease-of-use. Also, as Delta pointed out, they have much more lenient "DRM" on certain games, and Witcher 3 is one of them, so definitely depends on the game itself (see my paragraph about Jedi Knight for an example to the other extreme).

Dead Space wasn't that bad, but Hardline was a trainwreck, and that was their last big thing. I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did.

I'm always puzzled when people insist that a DRM-enforcing service is better than a direct-download of a fully-redistributable, standalone installer. I guess you could make an argument for automatic updates, but even GOG offers that now through "GOG Galaxy."

Maybe it's something entrancing about the Steam logo.

They do, but for some reason, they never included 3 with the GOG backup feature, just 1 and 2.

Yeah, if they still offered that feature for 3, I would have bought it on Steam instead (and just own both).

But, if you have to choose one or the other, the GOG version is the way to go, since 1) it's DRM free, and 2) GOG has a crapload of "bonus content" that other sources wouldn't have.

Traditions are funny things. It's sorta like putting your hand over your heart during the pledge of allegiance, or standing during the Hallelujah Chorus, or taking off a hat during prayer. People find weird ways to show respect, so when you go against the action, people can't help perceive a lack of respect on your part.

But the reality is, respect is something you have to EARN. If someone doesn't respect you, that's not a flaw on them, it's a flaw in your ability to earn said respect.

You're still trying to think about the GOD with the mindset of a HUMAN. In the Christian canon, he's not merely human (people were merely made "in his image.").

So, there is no real "memory" with him in the canon. With omniscience he sees it all, at once (what has taken place, and what hasn't yet taken place). Time itself is irrelevant to him, since a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like a day (see 2 Peter 3:8 for reference). Simply put, he CREATED "time" as we know it, and he's not bound by it.

The biggest problem with people's understanding of the Christian God is that they don't think of him as a God. Rather they think of him as just another Man who happens to have a whole lotta power. You're going to run into some serious issues with that mindset.
