The hospital isn't a jail, you are allowed to make your own obnoxious decisions but only if the patient is an emancipated minor. You just have to know the risks of leaving without treatment. If I was a physician at mayo clinic I wouldn't even give a shit, and this is coming from a resident physician. Edit: As long the hospital has that AMA form (against medical advice) and they have done all they can and is properly documented, the family will never win a lawsuit against mayo if the patient had a complication from the surgery/illness. These parents think they are in a mission impossible movie, it's really embarrassing. --- |
