It's objectively a poor game but I really enjoyed it.

If you think it isn't an issue then you're blind. It's incredibly noticeable. Winhill town square, brand new area, new disc, and you're still fighting the fat caterpillars and bite bugs.

By the end, yeah, but you are changing continents and still fighting the same enemies for the first half. Even in the prison they put the same stuff in. Both the other PS1 FFs have a lot more unique enemies for locations.

I thought FF8 had a pretty interesting world. It was a modern day world with fantasy elements. It has some memorable stuff

I just find it really samey and bland. Also the lack of enemy variation. You're still fighting the same bunch of pathetic monsters halfway through disc 2.

You can only encounter them on one particular screen and you only go there once per play through, so it's easy to miss.

FF8 is a strange game. The story falls apart about halfway through and the junction system is crazily broken, but it's fun in its own way. My biggest problem with it is how dull the world is and how slow some parts are.

The discourse in the States seems so toxic at the minute. Any tiny suggestion that wealth distribution might need a few tweaks or that kids have it rough at the minute is met with crazy hysteria.
