Yes, it is lol. Granted he said they stayed at airbnbs and stuff and not hostels, but 1.5k per week isn't cheap. I've got no problem keeping daily expenses under 100/day including accommodations and I still eat out and stuff.

I think the phrasing is a bit inflammatory but it's not like this is sudden, she's been considering it for a while. never actually clear how serious those considerations were but I feel like if they're not at least partially serious then it's the sort of topic you absolutely wouldn't bring up at all.

her priorities are just in a different place. which seems like a pretty good reason to leave a job imo. especially if you have health issues since that really limits your time/energy/ability to work on multiple things at once so you basically have to get choosy with what you stick with and what you don't

gotta design it, gotta pay for all the physical materials (which is a lot since they're pretty big) including a bunch of stuff more complex/hightech than just beams of metal, need to pay for assembly labour, probably needs tons of safety checks and inspections...

I like that they exist, because it's interesting llooking through the % of the various achievements on steam to see where players start to drop off in a game or to see how the playerbase finds the relative difficulty of various challenges. I also like when they suggest things to try in the game that you might not have done normally that can be kinda fun to plan, set up, and/or execute. But I'm perfectly content to just stop playing and ignore all the stuff that's left as soon as they're not fun anymore

basically anything I apply to has these sorts of questions. they're usually a little more complicated than the one TC has, not to say they're way harder just that there's more different ways to approach them so I guess there's more to talk about with an interviewer. They're still all like trivial brainteaser sorts of things rather than actual programs though.

The only interview I remember having recently that didn't have these was also the weirdest interview I've ever had. I was expecting to do some code writing and the guy just asks me:

"You know the new operator in C++? If it didn't exist, how would you implement it?"

wasn't expecting it at all so I gave some sort of lame answer about getting the size of the object and calling malloc and etc and he just asked me "Ok what if malloc doesn't exist either?"

frozen strawberries work ok imo, I can't imagine frozen apples being very good but I've never tried. apples should keep fairly long in the fridge though, or alternatively if you're finding a whole bag (I don't know how many this is) too hard to eat in time you can try baking something that uses multiple at once, or making applesauce or something I dunno

For coding challenges (no person on the other end, just an automated test), perfomance still matters as there's usually hidden tests that will timeout if you are using a brute force approach.

I was mostly thinking about these, since when there's another person there you get some amount of back and forth discussion usually and yeah you get the impression it's more about the approach than the solution. the automated ones I usually just quickly write out some naive solution and then clean it up if I get timed out but if not just leave it

fixed attack direction movement makes the action part of the game way better, the character-unique skills/weapons make character choice actually feel different, the shorter timelimit on runs is super good... basically as the game coming second it has the perfect opportunity to just copy over all lthe good stuff and then make changes/improvements to the less-good stuff

Usually if a problem looks too complicated during an interview, it is a sign that there should be a better approach. Consider the questions are meant to be solved in less than 1 hour.

I think this is a sort of mis-statement, usually the way that is fastest to think of and write is the slow brute force method, and then it's only if you have to think about something better than that (and aren't already familiar with the problem) that you start taking a bunch more time

honestly the original game is pretty good too but it's also basically just like a 50 hour book so I wouldn't be too surprised if anyone is a bit uninterested in it

Miyuki. I felt the more appropriate thing was to pick Aoi, considering how much work went into it, but she cucked me, and that is unforgivable. Plus, I felt bad about we screwed over Miyuki with our "patch" (tbh, I also always had a soft spot for the psycho characters who really try to appear as normal as possible, which is why Monika was always my favorite in DDLC as well).

I was thinking about this earlier today. Well, maybe not the completeness part, but like... it's not that uncommon nowadays for games to get updates after release that modify levels, bosses, moveset, how the game plays overall, etc etc. It is also not particularly easy to play the unpatched version of games a lot of the time.

It's a bit weird to me how if you skip buying a game on launch to wait for some opinions on it and see if it's good or not, by the time you get around to playing it in a month or two it may not actually be the same game you were getting those first days of opinions about

my internet was dead today so I played a bunch of it, currently at about 30% item collection. It's really fun.

It's definitely got all the metroidvania staples, like assorted weapon/mobility upgrades, small powerup collectibles hidden behind fishy-looking walls or in strange dead ends, a sprawling world with distinct zone themeing, all that stuff. But I think what makes it really unique is it has a ton of bullet hell DNA as well. Bosses have tons and tons of attack variety (this feels nice after ender lilies where each boss had like 3 different attacks max) and they're all very pretty and flashy and full of bullets everywhere. They even have touhou-esque character cut-in supers, where the boss boosts its defense or sometimes even becomes totally invuln and you just focus on dodging complex bullet patterns for a while. The game's built to support this sort of thing too, since your hitbox is tiny compared to your sprite and if you hold the attack button it makes you move slowly while highlighting your hitbox. Basically the focus mechanic common in shmups.

Personally I've played a fair bit of touhou in the past so I've been playing on hard and I think the difficulty is not too bad, only one boss has taken me more than 10 tries so far. But if you're not confident in your dodging there's two difficulty levels below that plus some extra assist features so I don't think you'd get too wallled.

Gonna talk about this a bit since you mentioned it. Yes, there are a bunch of somewhat scantily dressed anime girls. Can't really deny that part. But honestly, the game isn't particularly horny about it or anything; in my however many hours of playing I've encountered only one very short scene that goes anywhere near that, and it's pretty tame. Other than that there's like 0 lewd jokes, revealing CGs, etc etc. They just... happen to dress like that and then the rest of the game is pretty much normal <_<

And honestly if anyone is interested in it except for the design/art, and even that^ doesn't reassure them, I'd say to just play it anyway and skip alll the cutscenes. The plot is banal at best and nonsense at worse, and individual conversations are awkward/stilted (apparently the result of a poor translation) so you're not even really missing anything anyway

I didn't really like the game much myself so I'm fine with this. I don't really see the need to be super vitrolic about it like that other guy but I gotta say in terms of games with the biggest gap between how much other people talking about it made me think I'd like it, and how much I actually liked it, it might take the #1 spot on that list for me

dungeon travelers has an item-based class but mostly they're support/healing. there are a few offensive items but they're not the main focus.

the class mostly competes with the cleric-ish class in terms of role but costs consumables instead of MP. which seems super bad but they're actually very powerful in endgame because healing magic has a cast time while item use is instant, and often when you want to heal you can't afford to wait

pun cosplays are the best kind

I dunno how much everyone else misuses it but I just want to say that just another brick in the wall got played at my middle schooll graduation. I don't think most people even really noticed

I have a few friends who played it, apparently it's really addictive if you're into trying to minmax party synergy to squeeze every little possible bit of optimization

it seems like the main appeal is the amount of control you have over tons of stuff in your party and the possible combos and powerful interactions between ddifferent mechanics and etc that you can find so if that sounds fun to you then maybe try it? It seems the main reward you get for progressing in the game is the ability to... access harder stuff and progress even more, though. like very much a game about making your numbers go up

really though I think the important part here is that it's not just government / big business spying on you, as it seems fairly feasible for any random person to join in the spying as well as long as they're wiling to pay a bit (forget if he mentioned the exact price in the article but it was definitely implied not to be particularly expensive). and also that tracking can extend far beyond just snooping on your youtube most-watched playlist

I remember seeing some blog article about someone experimenting with how easy it was to essentialy buy 24h tracking on any random person through companies selling their cellphone data. like, not as a government, just any person tracking any other person

he called out some company for it (forget which one) and their response was something like "oh that's against our terms of use but I guess <other subcompany of them> messsed up" and then the subcompany said tthe same thing about one of their subcompanies and it was just deflection the whole way down

basicaly what I'm saying is the types of information that are being collected about you are way more detailed and personal than you might think and they come from all sorts of things

finished ender lilies just now. Game's a lot shorter than I was expecting (I've got about 16 hours playtime) but it was fun. I went into it expecting cool & difficult boss fights + lackluster world and somehow got the exact opposite. Enemy variety in this game really sucks but the layout of every individual room is so good.

Was skimming through the achievements afterward and I thought it was kinda interesting that more people have end C than end B, considering end C is just doing everything for end B plus finding a bunch of fairly hidden other items. maybe means lots of people are playing with guides or something <_<
