Today is good and I don't want to take away from any of it... but I do want to point out that the next time this Trumpesque thing happens (and history has proven it will), the collective we has to realize it and actually stop it.

The only mistake they made this time was putting an actual adult as VP. A racist, homophobic, weirdly oedipal adult, but one that actually had a floor he wouldn't tunnel through. Next time they won't make that same mistake.

I still think that without Pence or someone very much like him Trump would not have been able to get enough neocons and moderates to win in 2016. Especially given that Trump originally wanted Newt Gingrich.

Pardons can literally be rejected by the person receiving them on the basis they insist on claiming their innocence even after conviction. Accepting them also removes 5th amendment protections for any crimes you're being pardoned for because you are both admitting guilt and not incriminating yourself anymore.

So no, pardons do not mean you're innocent and taking that position is beyond stupid.
