And I'm not saying that failing most of those things he says you need to be perfect at is unreasonable. Most people including myself probably failed a good deal of them at least once. You just don't need to be anywhere close to the level of perfection he repeatedly claims.

Milk protection is an exception to that, though. It is literally something you should never reasonably fail short of your controller getting unplugged. I'm pretty sure you could beat it without touching the control stick or looking at the screen and just firing arrows.

I think I went back to the first map "too soon" because I didn't have anyone else's ziplines spawn and I had to cover the entire map myself. Just barely doable on that map, but man a few helpful ziplines from others would have been nice for sure.

I've definitely spent entirely too much time perfecting my zipline placements and upgrades, though. At this point I should really just hurry up and beat the game.

Oh, and the only reason I brought up rubber banding is because he compared it to Mario Kart at one point. If you've played that for a bit, you should at least be somewhat aware that the AI does better when you start to get ahead, and that if you do worse than everyone does worse.

But overall he's definitely right about Goron races being ridiculous. You just have to be a little less perfect if you play cautiously until the end.

I'm not comparing him to complicated speedrunning strats. I'm saying the only way to fail milk protection is to do virtually nothing at all.

The only reason it's a speedrun strat is because at that point they look away for lag frame reduction, but they're not doing anything special to actually beat it.

And this is a section with infinite Arrows that you can fire as fast as you can spam the button, mind you. It's not like you have to pick and choose your shots.

The amount of things he claims you have to do perfectly are ridiculous. The only one he has a point with is the Goron race, and that's partly solved by realizing it's possibly the worst rubber banding of all time.

The speedruns that do the milk protection quest literally only shoot the brothers a few times at the beginning because they don't have enough time to destroy all the milk at that point. It's literally that easy.

I also hear that they don't play completely fair with corpses either because you can supposedly leave them in a known BT area, a tactic actually used in at least one interview, and it will still cause a voidout.

There's a detail that they mostly gloss over, but is mentioned in at least one interview, that voidouts caused by repatriates are significantly smaller than normal voidouts.

In other words, they treat a voidout caused by a corpse you "make" as an immediate fail condition because the voidout would be way too big to continue on.

Except despite all that afaik you can actually revive after it happens with no territory lost, but I think it has some other permanent consequences I'm not totally sure about.

I found that you generally never have to repeat deliveries to level a facility, with the caveat that you will often be temporarily roadblocked by relying on needing other areas unlocked and some deliveries being locked behind others often with little rhyme or reason.

The only time I redo deliveries (besides with bots) is when I'm going somewhere and have the room to spare or the location has a useful reward for delivering in person (Spiritualist with 600 Lightweight Chemicals, places with unique Chiral items).

Most orders have a Like bonus based on Distance, but that isn't ever part of your actual rating. Time only counts when explicitly stated, including for some orders that don't actually level up your Delivery Time rank, but when it does it always factors into your rating for the order.

Whether or not he wrote much less delivered speeches with such content, it does seem to actually contradict what his own memoirs on these subjects. That doesn't disqualify them as things he ever said for the purpose of getting elected, but it is 2nd hand versus 1st hand sources.

But even in those, I don't think these speeches ever clearly indicated a difference in intelligence or brain size.

However, it does strike me as odd he would say such things for the purpose of getting elected in Illinois, but not for the purpose of getting elected president only 2 years later.

The whole "Lincoln was actually racist" talking point is greatly exaggerated. The only parts that are definitively true is that he prioritized preservation of the union above all else including abolishment and that he wasn't sure how well former slaves could adapt to being being in society (but that that wasn't an excuse to continue slavery either).

It also tends to get pushed hardest by the same people who say Lee wasn't racist at all.
