I think a lot of it is that we hate teenage girls as a society so everything they love we tend to think of as stupid, vapid crap.

It's okay to think pop music and teen dramas are stupid and vapid but the overblown hate for things that teenaged girls like is sad and honestly downright disturbing. Like let girls be girls the same way you wanna let boys be boys damn.

Source: between 10-15 yr ago I too was a teenaged girl and I was a pickme ass bitch who wouldn't allow myself to like things like pink and j biebs bc I knew I would be subject to the same intellectual ridicule as my peers by adults and boys and I didn't want that. Also spent a lot of time on CE at the height of biebs popularity.
