I don't really get the hate with Epic Games tbh. Steam has been a one man show for the longest time and they take a substantial cut from the devs.

Yeah their store sucks balls but give it time. Remember when Steam was notorious for shitty clients back in 2000s?

epic isn't competing with 2006 steam, though

true. but give it time tho. Epic takes 12% of sales while Valve takes a whopping 30% !! Imagine being a developer and thinking about what route you want to take.

Also, with all the money flowing from ForkKnife ramping 3 billion in PROFIT alone, Epic should be a fine store in a few years.

I am all for consumer advantage, but lets be nice to the people that also creates these games for us too.

Filipino checking in. It was kinda kewl in a sense that we got a spotlight in American media for awhile. I know my Asian friend circle loved it not solely on the Asian leads but how relatable the themes were in the movie. Everything else was fantastic like:

- cinematography. good shots of the Singapore and the food and that Mahjong game.
- music.
- wardrobe. gorgeous wedding scene.
- humor. <3 awkwafina
- Gemma Chan is a goddess herself

What I didn't like:
- Predictable cheesy movie plot. We have done the rich vs poor dichotomy countless times. Nothing new
- Like TC said, too much American blended elements, but it is something to highlight because many Asian Americans feel they do not need to withhold prior old traditional values.
- Music. Again too Americanized. people say heavily influenced, but I'll argue it is literally 1930s jazz and swing copy and pasted with Mandarin on it.

It is a rom-com blended with Asian traits. It is something to appreciate, but not to firmly represent us IMO. Others may have different opinions than me.

which part of NYC did you eat at? @Romulox28 is right in his judgment that Northeast is generally reserved and kinda has a "were all in this shitty situation together" attitude

I live in NJ and use to work in NYC, but it is wildly different in Jersey IMO. They are the diner capital of the world and I have had mostly positive experiences all around.

its more about the principle then actual use. growing up in an Asian household, everything was about tidiness and cleanliness because it was often associated with success.

i dont feel like typing my full thoughts, but im happy i was raised that way

And as you grow older, you should be smart enough to realize most of that was bullshit. Parents are often wrong. No need to continue with dumb and inefficient traditions

It's all about personal utility. This guy gets value out of having a tidy looking room, you get value out of being a "pick up artist" and wristwatches or whatever.

Diff'rent strokes 'n all, it's not hard to understand.

I'm not telling him to stop. I'm telling him to think about it properly and not do things because "it's the way it's always been done". Value does have some subjectivity and I'm saying subjectively making your bed is a waste of time

its not a waste of time if its eye appealing? it literally takes less than 30 seconds and brings comfort and security and my significant other and I appreciate a clean apartment. i can argue that we dont have to push the kitchen chairs in or put the controllers back or put the snacks back in the pantry.

how does do you value time? if im not consistently working and making $$, is everything else a waste of time?

how can we make affordable housing for certain individuals that have lived their for years?

improve job prospects and/or build cheaply (but not badly).

thing is, these weren't people that were considered impoverished. my friend's dad worked as a supply chain coordinator for years easily racking 70k but the rents in his neighborhood skyrocketed once people from NYC knew that living in Jersey was gonna be cheaper. So for their surrounding property values to be increased like that because the bankers and the rich foreigners decided someone else to live, it was really out of their control. i guess that's just capitalism at its finest

as someone whose lived in a neighborhood experiencing gentrification, its kinda sad seeing your friends and family move out to worse parts of the area.

then again, I am not totally against it as I have seen considerable improvement in the area in economic growth and marginally decreasing crime rates. the better question is, how can we make affordable housing for certain individuals that have lived their for years?

shout outs to Jersey City & Newark

Why is it always the Smash community where people are trying to get the new game over not on its own merits but by trying to put down the flawed but loved one that still has a following overshadowing two of its sequels? I thought they were trying to get over the party game stigma, eating each other shouldn't be the priority here.

MvcI people don't try that with Mvc2 or Umvc3, SF5 people recognise that they can like SF3 and SF4 since they're different games.

Probably cause melee is the most disenfranchised of the bunch despite the amount of substantial support it gets from its community. Nintendo strongly rejects all of melee philosophies such as wave dashing and l cancel and edge hogging, mechanics that melee players deeply love, thus creating this divide amongst the melee and ulti players. Smash Ulti players tend to forget how much of a grass roots community smash came from. Since Nintendo practically shunned melee out of the scene and continues to show Ulti love, melee players watch from the shadows envying the attention they get from daddy Nintendo
