I'm sorry for the folks who didn't enter a tiebreaker for whatever reason, but unless it was a technical glitch, I don't think being allowed to enter one now would be fair to those who submitted theirs prior to the contest. If you were to enter one now, you have a lot of information regarding vote totals that could influence your decision, whereas those who entered at the beginning of the contest had only prior years' data to work off of.

5 perfects eh?Here we have 11 perfects and if this holds on,then it will be new record.

9 perfects max*

There are 9 with Link vs. Ganon as their final pick, 1 Pokemon Trainers and 1 Cloud. Logic says that there cannot be more than 9.

Entry Type - Prize / Karma / For fun
Next Pick - The entrant's next selection reflecting the outcome of the current match (Alucard vs. Dracula / Frog vs. Magus / Bank) - this wouldn't be an issue given how selections have to be finalized before the leaderboard goes up for that night
Tiebreaker - the overall contest tiebreaker (number of votes in the final match)

You think Ryu/Ken is an easy opponent?

no, but easier than Big Boss/The Boss. Metal Gear has been more popular on this site than Street Fighter.

And I'm not debating the current consensus (that PKMN Trainer Red/Blue is favoured on that match), just that it's not as much of a foregone conclusion as you're making it out to be.

But I guess it might be considered debatable if you think Terra/Kefka or Chris/Wesker could beat Ryu/Ken.

I don't though.

Look at Samus/Ridley vs. The Kid/The Guy. that's what happens when you get easy opponents like Red/Blue has gotten so far.

There aren't really any debatable matches left at this point, in my opinion.

Something may surprise us, but that's been a pretty rare event in this contest.

As I said, Samus/Ridley vs. PKMN Trainer Red/Blue.

PKMN Trainer Red/Blue has had better performance against their Round 1/2/3 opponents, but they've also had easier opponents. Metal Gear characters & Terra/Kefka are more popular than Luigi/Waluigi (same Nintendo fanbase)

Right now I would go with PKMN Trainer Red/Blue if I had to pick, but historically, Metroid/Samus have always been fairly strong.

LOL at the thought of Pokemon beating Mario/Bowser. Mario/Bowser is easily the most iconic; they've appeared in more games than any other character pair in this contest.

Does anyone really think Cloud has a chance against Link (an event that hasn't happened since 2003), or that Sora has any chance against Squall? What other difficult-to-predict matches are left?

65%
Action: Undecided between "Bet 148500 pts on Alucard" and "Bank"

No, it's just too much effort for me to enter either contest 75.94%

external image

Maybe it's time Allen tried something new? (yes, I know this one features protagonist/rival pairings, but the format and overall premise of the contest is still the exact same.) people are gettin' tired of the same old nintendo v. square catfight over the past decade. and spending so much time to enter a bracket when the odds of winning are lower than those of winning your regional lottery.

as i've been saying for a long time, something skill-based like detroitdj's contests (actually based off of the old pre-character battle GFAQs contests) would be nice.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/jobs-biography-reveals-a-man-always-ready-to-pick-a-fight/article2210145/

On Android copying the iPhone:
“I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple’s $40-billion in the bank, to right this wrong,” Mr. Jobs told his biographer, Walter Isaacson, in an “expletive-laced rant.” “I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this.”

On meeting Obama in person:
You’re headed for a one-term presidency,” he told Mr. Obama when he met him in 2010. He told Mr. Obama that the United States needed to become more business-friendly if it did not want to lose its edge. He talked about how much easier it was to build a factory in China than in the U.S., where there were too many regulations and needless costs.

On the Christian faith:
He rejected the religion at the age of 13, the book reveals, after seeing starving children on the cover of Life magazine. After asking his pastor if God knew about those children, he never went back to church.

On Microsoft and Bill Gates:
Mr. Jobs once declared about Mr. Gates: “He’d be a broader guy if he had dropped acid once or gone off to an ashram when he was younger.” “Bill is basically unimaginative and has never invented anything, which is why I think he’s more comfortable now in philanthropy than technology. He just shamelessly ripped off other people’s ideas.”

Even if it was skill based, the sheer number of entrants makes repeat winners extremely unlikely.

Also, no.

if this is the case then the contest definitely isn't skill-based.

Instead of random luck-based character brackets whose (prize) winners are largely different every contest.

I think DetroitDJ "Identify the Screenshot" contests are on the right track. Or a contest based on competing for certain highscores in games.

These character battles are getting really old and tired, and the "rivals" gimmick isn't enough to redeem the last 10 years' worth of CB staleness.

Clearly the 3DS has a lot of issues: the crappy battery life, the screens scratching each other problem, the lack of dual analog sticks...

From a business perspective, it's far better for Nintendo to admit the problem NOW and make those necessary fixes while it's still early. The "Ambassadors" already got their NES ROMs, so Nintendo should not be restrained in their future business tactics just to appease a small minority of early adapters...who, I might add, knew the risks of early adaptation but willingly took them anyway.

And a 2DS, priced around $100, would easily double Nintendo's userbase overnight, assuming that they solve the other problem: lack of high-quality, original, innovative games.

"but hurr theres a 3d SLIDER u can use 2 turn off the 3D!!!!1111"

There's no reason I should have to PAY for something I will NEVER use. Considering that the 3D parallax barrier is the console's most expensive component, a 2DS would make the console more affordable for those who simply do not care about 3D. Iwata has said no game will ever require 3D to progress so that's not a problem either.
