Not trying to put people down for feeling oppressed by cost of living expenses they can't afford but claiming gentrification is the root of the problems in a community is kind of like saying "We want better homes but after you fix them up, get lost."

It's like asking for a handout. You want better living spaces to drive out low-income issues such as street crime yet can't put up with the expected raise in cost of living that comes from improving those aspects of a neighborhood.

I guess what I'm saying is I see the declaration of gentrification as getting solutions you don't like. What exactly is the outcome that you want aside from someone with the means to build up an area coming in to clean it up and justifiably asking for better property rates in return?

See I've never seen people ask for the handout, generally I've seen people want the income to fix the houses and neighborhoods themselves.

More than anything else a large sum of wealth fixes crime. But gentrification just uses money to push whatever crime else where.
