Your question's kinda vague. "People" have a lot of reasons. One common reason is that "fire n' brimstone" Hell isn't even actually in the Bible. It's a nonsense scare tactic made of lies.
Revelation 21:8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars-they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."

this seems close enough

But are tolerant of those who say God is real?

seems like people are just wanting to keep their mental peace and think God is some sort of "genie"

and inb4 atheists try to derail the thread. this isn't a pedantic debate about wether god is real, just about people's responses

The word "unappreciative" is usually used in a hostile, accusatory manner

But what are you accusing the person of, thoughtcrime?

Appreciation is something within the mind. You're lashing out at them because their mental activity isn't what you think it "should be"

Is there a difference between interaction and manipulation?

I'd disagree with the idea that all social interaction is manipulative. A lot of it, sure.
According to the prompt, no

All social interaction is transactional. Manipulation may be a part of that, or it may not.
If you are trying to present yourself in a certain way, that is basically manipulation according to the prompt.

So the question is, when interacting with someone, no matter what, you're "manipulating" someone. So how is that "wrong"?

Informal logical fallacies seem to be more or less good rules of thumb for debate class. They're the things you hear about all the time, "ad hominem", "appeal to authority", "strawman".

Formal logical fallacies are actual errors of reasoning. Affirming the consequent, for example.
I see

But why are informal fallacies "BS" in your opinion?

I mean, informal "logical fallacies" are all pretty much bullshit anyway, so you might as well pick and choose the ones you like.
i'm confused, what do you mean by this.

what's a formal vs informal logical fallacy?

I was looking at logical fallacy examples, and one of them was appeal to motive. But is this actually a logical fallacy, because I feel it actually is truthful in many situations.
