| eaglei3 11/10/20 6:24:30 PM #4 | Wrong data is being used for this topic. You should have referenced the data of "% turnout of eligible voter population" and not just the turnout number. The % is sitting at about 66% right now and could push a little higher after everything is settled. That is the highest since some elections in the 1800s. How much of this is attributed to mail in votes versus the candidate is yet to be seen and will require data from future elections, but it is mostly certain more people will vote when you make it easier to do so. Just saying we had the highest turnout ever will get a lot of "Well duh" from people who immediately point towards our population being higher than past elections. Which is true since we have typically always had higher turnout in the last elections. 1996 was the last election that had lower turnout than the previous election. |

There were a lot more mail-in/absentee ballots than ever before because of the pandemic. Trump told his supporters to not mail-in votes, Biden said the opposite. Trump is paying for it now. The election is taking this long cause we implement mail in balloting but suck at getting it counted cause it has to be opened and done one at a time. |
