I suppose fighting character in general have fallen, but I probably think less of it than most. I don't think Scorpion haven't fallen has to do with Mortal Kombat being a fighting game in particular. I expected Guile to be that bad, but I know I was in a minority. I actually thought Chun-Li did rather good. I'm sure she'd generally be thought better of if her match was later on in the contest.

I know they said there wouldn't be many new characters, but I don't think anyone is disappointed because of the amount of characters. It's more that they ended it on an echo fighter and Incineroar with Isabelle having been the latest character revealed before that.

If they ended with Ridley or Simon, that's be a lot cooler.

I suppose they did end on Piranha Plant, which for sure is a major wtf moment, but not something anyone asked for.

So I see that I, along with charmander, has the most mainstream (by gamefaqs standards anyway) favorites bracket. While it's somewhat boring, I should be happy most matches go the way I want them to.

For the record I don't think Sonic Mania did anything. Unless Crash Bandicoot was in that game too. And Donkey Kong.

They have their own similar reasons if you will. If Sonic Mania boosted the Sonic characters, then Crash probably got a boost from Uncharted and the remakes and Donkey Kong from Tropical Freeze being a huge hit.

I personally think they might have made a little difference, but that this has more to do with nostalgia on this site.
