Obviously, all of these games have good critical receptions, but the more GOATy titles seem to be improving relative to the rest of the field. That's how reputations develop in pretty much every other cultural area throughout history, so I guess it shouldn't be surprising to see it happening here as well. --- Congrats on Advokaiser for winning the 2018 Guru Contest! The time to create the foundations for some kind of "New Afghanistan" was after the initial routing of the Taliban in 2001. But the time, money, will, international support, political capital, etc was all squandered almost immediately. There was/is also a weird philosophical block that has hung over Iraq/Afghanistan where the US is willing to support all manner of war crimes, but interfering with "democracy" to install a dictator or to even set up some sort of Singapore/PRI-era Mexico state is for some reason beyond the pale.
