I said some people just have that mindset. some people like myself can be lazy. I was lucky when I lived in a similar situation to TC as in having to go to the store for myself but not having a vehicle. the store for me was only about 2 blocks.

I am american though so I am familiar with exactly how long a kilometer is, if my assumption is correct and thats its not much more or less than a mile is, then yeah I probably wouldn't mind walking that every other day or so.

I'll try to answer as much as I can:

1. If it's sterilized, it doesn't matter if you look it "that" way. I don't know for sure if males get fatter or not. If you don't plan on getting a sterilized cat, well then you may have issues.

2. I'm not in favor of this. Kittens are easier to adapt, older cat (if used to be a stray) may never want to adjust to yous guys.

3. I've had this issue several times, it will be tense at first but cats living in the same house seem to get along eventually.

3.5. I don't know how much is that is square meters but it should be fine.

4. That's very dicey. If you put her in a basket she might sleep through the entire trip and generally not be an issue but cats are territorial to my experience, if you change their habitat frequently, it will be bad

5. I don't think you can. Every cat is unique :)

6. You need to trigger their instincts somehow. Dunno

There was a major flood last year and a kitty (a tabby) that was perched on a tree jumped into a boat full of dogs to save herself. It was either that or the 6 foot water.

When she was rescued, the guys at the shelter named her Hope because that's what she gave the people who faced that horrible misfortune.

A year later, she's gotten rather fat from all the sleeping at our house all day, making angry faces at everyone and just generally being mean and grumpy, including other cats in the neighborhood.

But more often there are times when she's really nice :)
