I used to be super big into NC, but really grew out of him over the past few years. Half the time he genuinely seems to not know what the fuck he's talking about when it comes to film and it can be kinda painful.

More indy/hardcore than punk

At The Drive In - Relationship of Command
Snapcase - Progression Through Unlearning

These are among my favorite albums, ever in any genre, and highly suggest for someone looking to get into a new band. If you like either Bad Religion or NOFX album, they both have literally a dozen others, and have been around for so long. Give the vocalist of NOFX a fair chance, he can be a bit off putting at first.

At The Drive in became Sparta, and then became The Mars Volta, which is likely their most successful rendition, but they tended to get more emo and strange throughout.

I think I've only heard a bit of Bad Religion out of these, but I know 21st Century Digital Boy and liked it; I'll have to look into them more.

I think I've heard them before; just went to their top songs on spotify and checked out Blood and Thunder and The Motherload, the latter in particular I really liked, I'll need to check them out more, I think I can vibe with them.

So I've dabbled here and there with some metal; but I've always been super confused on all the different sub-categories, and when I ask friends for recommendations I don't really have a basis for what exactly I like, so they just give me their own favorites and it's often super hit or miss.

Some metal and metal-ish bands I know I like for reference:

I actually really like Silent Hill: Downpour's story; gameplay is kinda garbo, but the story and atmosphere is pretty damn solid for the most part.

Silent Hill 3 is also quite good, but you need to play SH1 beforehand, 3 is a direct sequel to 1.

Korn will always be the GOAT of Nu Metal.

Korn is definitely the first band I think of when I think "Nu-Metal"; I'd say SOAD is the better band overall, but I associate them less directly with the genre.

It's kind of funny to look at this and over half of them I loved at a late teen in high school and now I wouldn't even consider sitting through. Like there's classic rock that i'll always love, a lot from the grunge era, some Metallica, Counting Crows, etc. But this wave had no staying power into adulthood for a lot of people. Limp Bizkit was legit as an edgy teen and now i'm Stan Marsh and all I hear is sounds of shit coming through the speakers.

Yeah, it's kinda weird how little these band's presence has really stayed around. I have friends joke on me for always listening to grunge, but if I started playing fucking Limp Bizkit instead they'd (understandably) break my speakers.

I can vibe with Korn and Disturbed every now and then, but I have to be in a very specific mood for them.

The way I saw it was they wanted to make sure the fans got a full final match to get their money's worth, and if they had enough people to have a full 5 rounds, they needed to pony up for the sake of getting a legit finale. If their team members were fully dead, then yeah they could get away with it, but since to public knowledge, at least, they weren't dead, they needed to have the full amount.

I mean, the real reason is probably just they wanted to bring Genkai's death and Yusuke's inability to admit it out loud to the forefront for #PlotReasons, but that's kinda how I justified it in-universe.

You are never, ever alone in this. So many people are with you. This is such a drastic, dramatic change in life that we know and understand. Not adapting is entirely understandable, but we will figure it out. This time last year so many people knew what their plan was, what the future holds, and where their lives would be 20 years from now and all of a sudden it's all ripped away. It's scary, it's not normal, but we are all in it together and we get through it together. We need to survive to adapt, and adapt to progress forward, and progress forward to build our lives for the future. That's definitely the big thing is just the unknown of what things are going to look like even a month or so from now. Keeping positive about the future has gotten real difficult when literally nothing is certain, but like you said, all we can do is keep at it and figure things out as we go.

I have loved isolation. The less people I see, the better. Although I have been in lockdown with my wife so I have the one person I want to be with. Might be different if I were alone, but honestly I don't think it wouldve been.

I've lost weight, eating healthier, happier that I'm not surrounded by people all day.

I like isolation in small doses, but I do still have friends that I want to spend time with, and I miss going out on dates and shit.

I've lost a little bit of weight, but mainly cause I just haven't been eating much cause of anxiety.

i went through this last year, when i was force to work from home because my company closed down their local HQ

it takes about 6 months to get over it, until then it's brutal. i also had to deal with being alone after a very long relationship, so that didn't make matters any better, hah.

you'll make it, don't worry about it, all of it calms down after a while.

btw i'm on cruise control right now. i've never been more relaxed in my life. it definitely gets better.

I'm holding out for the "gets better" point, but right now things are feeling pretty rough.

It requires practice, like anything else. A guided meditation track is best for learning, at least for me.

I should look into that; might be helpful in clearing my mind of some of this shit that's been freaking me out.

Last night I tried journaling my emotions for the first time, and like, I think it kinda helped a bit in the moment, but now I'm just terrified that someone someday will find it and judge me for my fucked up emotions and shit.

You're doing more than I am then. It sounds like you might want to practice mindfulness. Do you ever meditate? I use the InsightTimer app which has been good for getting me into it. I always feel better after taking 5 or 10 minutes to sit still and breathe slowly.

I've tried once or twice, but I've never been able to have the focus to do it consistently, I always end up getting lost in my thoughts and defeat the whole point of it.
