Shadow was a completely bitter and broken person. Being a ninja, having a badass loyal dog and being mysterious made him cool, sure but once you understand he's the complete opposite of Locke he's not a really good character IMO.

Relm is stupid.

That honestly makes him an even better character TBH, he's Locke's other side of the coin. That's good as fuck story telling.

So, Sorry To Bother You was fantastic. Pretty much every single scene was some sort of social commentary on capitalism, racism, equal rights, means of protest, etc. and was pretty damn great about it, even if it wasn't subtle.

This is a movie that I highly recommend going into blind, so please don't read this till you've seen the movie.
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR SORRY TO BOTHER YOU BELOW:
The twist with the horse-people caught me out of fucking nowhere, but I love that the film had done such a good job prior to this of establishing the weirdness of this world, that while it was shocking and came kinda out of nowhere, it didn't really call for any more suspension of disbelief than we had already given it.

The rapping scene was one of the most painful to watch scenes in the whole movie, but also one of my favorites. Really felt like a major criticism of rap and rap fans, particularly white fans and a lot of rapper's tendencies to give them perhaps more free reign than they should, although that scene could easily be interpreted a couple different ways I feel like.

At first I had some issues with the editing, there were some REALLY rough cuts, especially towards the beginning, but looking back on it, the editing, as well as the overall feel of the movie, felt very reminiscent of the 60s and 70s, and I'm convinced that the editing itself was a homage to low-budget black films from the 60s and 70s, which gives me a new appreciation for it.

My biggest issue with the film was the ending,similar to @eggcorn. The ending honestly felt out of place given the tone shift we had with the reveal of the horse-people. I know they wanted to end the film on a joke, but I really wish they would have continued taking the film down that darker path. I like that Cash ultimately turned into a horseperson, but the movie should have continued for another 5-10 minutes, with Cash continuing to rally the horse-people, becoming their leader, and eventually getting killed, "becoming their MLK" just like Lift wanted him to. Perhaps even go all the way and have Cash's death give the horse-people some more rights in some way, but in a way that gave Lift more control over them, ultimately having the villain succeed, reinforcing the dominate theme of capitalism's unstoppable, morally corrupting nature that had been emphasized the entire film.

Still though, great movie. I'm probably gonna buy it on DVD pretty soon after it comes out.

I've only watched Match Point and Midnight in Paris, but I only liked the former, tbh.

one thing that made me appreciate Match Point more than I did initially was when I let my brother borrow it, and afterwards he was like, "he just got away with everything at the end?!"

idk why that still stays with me, lol.

I loved Midnight in Paris tbh. It's a super low key, chill movie, but I enjoy it.

Ghost Stories was a bit disappointing, had higher expectations. It wasn't bad by any means, but it definitely wasn't great. Quality twist ending, but outside of that it didn't have much substance.
