For real? That's kind of funny and scary simultaneously.

@United_World Do you have a Raw Transparent File of the character, without the CE background?

One of the guy's from the MA board is having a boxing match next month and I'm designing his shorts for him. I think this will fit the theme.

Really? Haven't heard that for motivation. Though I do want to become a cool guy and pick up guitar and learn how to sing for similar reasons. But I haven't been really motivated to really get on that for the time being, though I hope to do so in the future.
I know what it's like to not feel motivated on some days. I get that a lot. I like watching a lot of Youtube videos about things that I want to do and people who make really good tutorials on them. That really helps with not only teaching me new things, but also, makes me want to get up and do it myself.

I'd love to see that website one day. Hell, I'd love to read a webcomic or something with your art one day too.
I would love all of that too, friend.

I honestly dont know anything about anime, and after looking up the western anime style . you fucking nailed it dude.

I dont know if you do Instagram or Twitter, but Id be making daily posts and tagging any and all illustrators and writers you know and like. Seriously. I follow nothing but sports and shoe related stuff and I see a good amount of people and companies asking just us normal folk to send in resumes or in your case portfolios and junk.

(My buddy I grew up with was amazing at drawing, probably one of the best Ive ever seen and we all tried to get him to do it professionally and he just never had the motivation. I like seeing people succeed and try whatever I can to help them along the way whenever I can)
I don't have an Instagram or a Twitter. But I've been kind of considering the former. It would just be nice to have somewhere that I can dump the stuff I draw. Is your friend still drawing stuff nowadays?

You don't show anyone else? Why not? I don't mind sharing my writing with other people, though looking at it now, a lot of the stuff I've written before needs a lot of work. lol
My friends don't really seem to care too much. I'll show them something and usually get an "Oh, cool..." But every now and then, I'll make something that'll impress them. In fact, part of the reason I'm trying to get so much better is partly that I'm trying to win their approval ha. In a way, they're huge influences on me.

I also don't typically bring up that I do this around strangers too often, for whatever odd reason. Some day, I want to make a website full of these sketches that I can just show to people while I'm out and about.

gatorsPENSbucs posted...
Pretty fucking good, a couple of them if you absolutely nitpick maybe the hands and eyes could be like the tiniest bit tuned but from what I hear those are the two of the hardest things.

The more comicy looking ones are phenomenal, I dont do anime or anything like that and if I saw these just posted randomly Id assume they were from a show or legit comic or something.
This is probably the best compliment I've ever received. Good shit! The weird thing is, I'm not really too much of an anime fan, but I'm really into Korean artists. A lot of Korean artists have these styles that are a nice blend of Western and Anime-inspired while being their own thing. I've always wanted to get down a style of my own that's something similar to that.

shit, start posting these more places than here and get these out for people to see. Theres definitely a lot of talent and Im sure a huge huge fan base that would want more or have a story with some of those characters.
That's the dream, man. I would love to create a cartoon one day. I have an awesome job as a PA that I'm hoping to eventually springboard into something where I'm making something personal to me.

This one's my favorite. I like his expression and his hat.
That one takes me back. The character was an idea a friend and I came up with. This guy works at a restaurant called "Whatever You want" where you can order whatever you want. People would come in and make the dumbest, most oddly specific orders, and no matter how stupid it sounds, this guy must make it. If he doesn't have the material to make it, he has to go out and get it. No excuses. So that's why he's so miserable all the time haha.

Here's a bonus story where this time the date was bad because of me:

A young, foolish United_World took a girl out around town who, once again, worked at the same job with him. On our walk around town, I took her to Smoothie King and bought myself a smoothie, then we continued walking around town, before going back to her dorm.
Whenever I told people about how that date went, they always pointed out that I should have bought her a smoothie too and I always felt the need to defend myself by telling them that I offered her a sip and she could have bought herself one. "I know she had money because we worked at the same job," I would say. I didn't do myself any favors.

My friends to this day still bring up "The Smoothie King Date," to mock me whenever the subject of dating is brought up, haha. Funny thing is, that same girl was the one to reach out to me and set up a second date.

Went out with a girl on a first date, she gave me some speech about never sleeping with a guy on a first date. She said she did the old lady undies thing to keep herself in line.

Long story short we're naked in her house. She models her old lady panties and we laugh. When she takes them off she's got pubes up to her navel and then all in her crack and a tuft up to the small of her back. I made a comment about if that was to deter any hanky panky too. She started crying. It was not. Apparently, she had been made fun of for it like all through college and stuff. I quickly fled the scene.

My confusion was mostly about, if you were aware of it and self conscious and it wasn't a way to prevent intimacy, why not shave that fur diaper off? Like this shit was long too. At least trim it down with some clippers.

No offense but this sounds less like her asking you on a date and more like her asking if you want to hang out and you assuming it was a date
Nah, man. She used to really go out of her way to be around me back when we worked together. She's asked me out a couple of other times before that too. She used to tell me things like her phone number and how to get to her apartment without me even having to ask. She was always talking about the things she liked about me or always asking about the stuff that I liked doing. She'd ask asked me things like, "How do you feel about dating girls older than you?," because she was a few years older than me.

Last year, she started calling me out of the blue randomly. At that point, I haven't seen her in a few years. She was telling me things about how she always liked being around me and that she "felt safe around me." Unfortunately, her life wasn't sounding like it was going too great at the time :(

This girl I worked with asked me out on a date. I took her to this Vietnamese noodle place downtown and she spent the entire date either gossiping about our co-workers, ranting about her dislike for White people, or talking about how much she hates her allegedly toxic, cheating ex-boyfriend while simultaneously calling him her best friend that she's currently avoiding and asking if I could check his social media for her.

Another one (which hardly counts as a date, but I'm including it anyway), again, involved a girl from work. She used to follow me around a lot and get me to look at her social media stuff on her phone. So I've always figured she kinda liked me but I never really tried to capitalize on it. One time, I told her my plans for one weekend, which included going to see a movie. She got really excited and ask if she could see it with me. I wasn't planning on bringing someone along, but I said sure.
The day of, I'm at the mall where the movie theater is, waiting for her. She doesn't show up at the time we agreed on. I wait a little longer and she's still not there. I call a few times and she doesn't pick up. So I decided to go see the movie without her and all the showings were booked...Damn. The next time I saw her, I asked her what happened and she said she slept in that day. I've declined every offer she's made to hang outside of work ever since.

So, yeah. Those are my most kooky dating stories. I like to look back at those and laugh sometimes. It also taught me that I probably shouldn't be going out with co-workers.

sometimes i wish i was in a position where i could just cut him out of my life. if you really truly believe that cutting your dad out of your life would be the most positive solution (it sounds like it would be), and you are in a position where that is possible, i would urge you to do it.
Unless he contacts me with the intent to apologize and own up to his shit personality (which I seriously doubt because that's not something he would do), he's never gonna hear from me again.

I just talked about it with my mom a little earlier. She laughed the whole time because he's been doing a lot of this stuff to her and friends of theirs when they were young and he still hasn't changed. She says that she's glad that I'm not letting him manipulate me because he likes having control over people and there are some people who don't know how to break away from him. Being around my dad these past few months really made me appreciate my mom so much more as the normal parent between the two.

the saddest dude on the block
I'm not sure how that auto-corrected to "saddest," but that's supposed to say "toughest".

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

I'm sorry to hear you had to go through all of that. At least you got out and you're focusing on bettering yourself and not letting the others hold you back.

One of worst I have ever seen it was between my grandmother, grandfather, and mom/aunts/uncle. It tore the family apart to this day. But my mom got to be so much better after she got help for it. She still maintained the relationships except with my uncle at a certain point, but knew where to draw the line with her mother and one of my aunts, too. I think the other thing besides counseling that really helped was living far apart from everyone. She has heart issues and I honestly believe that they mostly stem from stress related to the narcissm that seemingly runs in the family.
This reminds me of my mom's side of the family. A lot of them are just downright terrible people that I haven't associated with in decades. It seems like they just hate each other and love keeping one another down. There are a few that I like and some I genuinely feel sorry for. My uncle was the Uber Eats driver who was all over the news a few years back for shooting someone. He had PTSD (something that his crappy lawyer failed to mention) and lots of people in our shitty family did nothing but make things worse. The only person I'm related to that I regularly associate with is my mom when I drop by to spend time with her every other day.

Man, sometimes I just wish I had a regular, loving family. This shit sucks.

Silver lining - maybe some day you'll be a better dad/uncle which will leave everything you mentioned as someday just a bad, old, and hopefully dulling memory.
I think about this often. I can't wait to have kids because I'm confident I'll be an awesome father by taking note of what not to do from my own dad.

There's a subreddit about narcissistic parents that I think you could probably share this with to see their opinion.
Link? I'm curious.

In all seriousness that sucks bro. I have dealt with narcissists/sociopaths in my family and relationships before. At least you know it now and knowledge is power. You have the ability to not react even if he wants you to. You also have the ability to walk away. Sometimes blood is not thicker than water. If it is bringing you this much turmoil it is likely best to move on.
I've always figured. The time I spent around him lately has been the most amount of time we spent together and I was able to really observe him. And yeah, I think he's just incapable of being a normal person. Whenever he's being "nice" (and halfway listening to me...) it never feels genuine.

Sounds like you should cut ties with him.
Unless he contacts me again to apologize and actually recognize his shit personality, consider it cut.

I only scanned maybe the first 15% of that but "doesn't believe in empathy" plus the bit about putting on a charm for people screams sociopath to me.

Edit: I finished reading the rest of your OP. Yeah that's definitely not the kind of person I would ever want to be around. Sorry that you have such a lousy dad.
Ever since I've been spending time with him, I always tell my friends I wish I had a normal dad like theirs. It sucked growing up without a father figure, but that's better than having him around, for sure.

oh dude.. I'm so sorry man. it's hard when they are stubborn.

Maybe he needs a good one to one talk with his behaviors and how they are not okay. First step is him acknowledging them and hopefully knowing they aren't okay.
He's been up his own ass for so long that I think trying to convince him of anything about himself has no longer been an option for a while.

Ask about his dad and enjoy that ride

Assuming he was around
The thing about him is, he's so necessarily cryptic about aspects of his life. I've asked him questions before that I figured weren't too personal and he would genuinely get offended. I ask him about people on his side of the family, all of whom I've never met (including an older sister and a younger brother), and he would always change the subject. He introduced some guy as my "uncle" and I got very happy because I thought he was an actual relative. But just to clarify, I asked if he was my blood-related uncle or just a close friend of my dad's and my dad got mad that I asked him that for some reason. The guy was chill though. He said he was just a friend. I wouldn't be surprised if he's pushed away a lot of his family. Hell, I even asked him about his other kids on Father's Day and he avoided the question. I'm positive they don't fuck with him either.

how old are you?
26. The last time I saw him was in high school for a bit. And the last time before that was for a weekend in 2004. He's always been an eccentric weirdo.
