Probably would've done better if I'd picked First Step Towards Wars and Battle of the Holy for my arbitrary PCE Ys and GB Castlevania songs, but where's the fun in that. By the way, same composer for the Black Bird and Murasaki songs. Takeaki Watanabe (aka. MusMus/NAVA) is pretty great. Has a lot of good royalty free music too. |

HL3 was already being memed into being another DNF a decent amount of time before DNF happened, and the confirmation regarding it may have helped people keep it on their minds, if anything. Just look at how Konami characters have been handling this contest, in light of their respective series being dead in the water (outside of the arcades in bastardised form...)*. No doubt about it to me, that Bowser performance is something pretty damn impressive as far as I'm concerned. Possibly something that won't last for long either, as I suspect a non-negligable amount of that strength only came from a far less long-lasting meme. * Anyway yeah my pick is actually to Kratos, for similarly exceeding expectations, and against someone who definitely can't be accused of being any weaker than usual. A shame he's up against a monster next. Now to go back to not pretending I know jack about jack in this contest. |

| UF8 11/03/18 2:30:45 AM #31 | Overall fun factor in terms of fighting, either Acceleration of Suguri or the current style that Touhou fighters have adopted (yeah I'm absolutely going to get dunked on for this, but I have a looot of fun playin' em, gimmicks and all) As games in general, I've always really liked the overall structure of Ultimate Ninja titles a lot, having the fighting game aspect essentially only serving as a mere side mode despite how fleshed out it is. As a fighting game on the principles of, you know, fighting game... Likely Fatal Fury. It just did a number of good and smart things that own, and simply made it just work really well. I'm not sure if it's my favourite part, but the plane switching it had was the one thing I wish other games had decided to keep since. The rarity of that is also part of why I dig pre-storm Ultimate Ninja titles, since it did it, albeit while taking a pretty signficantly different approach that wasn't nearly as seamless (even if it was still cool as hell). I also still get a lot of enjoyment out of MvC titles, though post-Infinite... I dunno. Darkstalkers is up there too. |
