How often are reboots actually good though?

Because they usually only reboot movies that were already good (because the point is to piggyback off the positive brand recognition), the reboots already have a high bar to overcome, which they usually don't.

I mean, it's basically a running joke that comic book character death is temporary.

If I remember (which I may not), the final season went to a different studio or something and was terrible.

It's not like I expect a series continued all these years later with a completely different group of people writing it to be any good though.

I think it was the cold open for an episode of CSI. Someome lived in a house were everything was automated but it got hacked. The guy kept shouting to "initiate manual override" instead of opening any of the doors himself to escape.

Your house being controlled electronically doesn't mean it's all hooked up under 1 system that controls everything which is also connected online (because you wanted to be able to unlock your front door from the other side of the planet) so it can be remotely infiltrated and give access to everything at once. It can mean that, but it doesn't have to, and is unlikely to.

Also, something as basic as an electronic keypad like most people would have can't be remotely hacked anyway because it's too simple a device.

And it's not like lock picking or finding an alternative entrance aside from doors didn't exist before electronic locks.

I'm not saying electronic locks are better then traditional, but they aren't significantly worse either.

It should be noted that if you're a Dragon Ball fan you might as well get Dragon Ball FighterZ for that reason. Dragon Ball FighterZ actually has a pretty good single player story for a fighter if that's a concern for you.

Developer support for the game probably just ended though.

Yugi sucks.

Atem was the cool guy.

Yusei was cool on his own.

I stopped watching after Zexal. Did they every try a mature protagonist again after Yusei, or did they go back go moron kids.

Not that being a kid is a problem in itself, being idiot hero cliche shonen protagonist is the problem (which both Jaden and Yuma were).

Interestingly, in the final season of GX that never aired dubbed, Jaden actually does a 180 after the events of the previous season (as he gets his memory back), and becomes so mature he becomes alienated from all his friends who are still mentally immature high school kids. The theme of the final season was actually about growing up and becoming an adult.

Yuma is a moron all the way to the end though, he never changes.

Both GX and Zexal are terrible when they are being episodic, but are not bad when they are actually following a story arc.

Strive was intentionally designed to try and be beginner friendly above all else, to the point where some veteran players are upset that it's been simplified too much to the point the game is less interesting.

So if low barrier of entry for a fighter is your main goal, it's probably what you're looking for.

They did this because frankly, fighting games are niche compared to many other genres and they were hoping to bring in a new audience and increase sales for the franchise.

Aside from the original fighting brands like Street fighter and MK which everybody in the west recognizes, most fighting games that don't sport big IPs like DC or Marvel struggle to sell in high numbers.

Funnily enough, while Strive seemed to have the goal of being simple, Dragon Ball FighterZ was patched to be more crazy.

Another thing to note though is Strive uses better netcode then most other Japanese fighters (the first time the developer is using it for a new game), since I assume you'll be mostly playing online.

Guilty Gear's story is mostly nonsense, and the "story" mode for Strive is essentially just a movie with no interaction, so if you're looking for decent single player mode like the Injustice games have, know it doesn't have that.

I enjoyed it.

While the concept of Squid Game isn't at all original, it has great execution.

I think what it does different then most similar stories is it gives the characters a real reason to want to play, and lets you really understand that. It's more then, "if you don't play you die", or "I'd be cool if I was rich". You really understand why these people would be willing to risk their lives and do cruel things to win.

Episode 6 totally made me cry.

The acting in the show is top notch aside from maybe the non-Korean actors speaking English which seemed like they were either bad actors or they had trouble with their direction because of the language difference or something. It's strange because the Korean actors speaking English were perfectly believable.

Why bring attention to the scene in the old Bond movie at all? You're literally attacking your own franchise, as you're supposedly trying to promote your movie that's part of that franchise. And no matter it's faults, you know the new movie is never going to be revered like the old Bond movies, so you're basically just telling fans of old Bond movies, a large portion of the target audience, that they were wrong for enjoying them.

So I don't see how this will improve ticket sales.

3 by a long shot.

1 good.

2 was good.

3 was amazing.

4 was nanomachines. The answer to everything was nanomachines. The supernatural apparently never existed in MGS, it was all nanomachies.

5: Actually, supernatural stuff was real all along, and was the root cause of everything.

Metal Gear Rising's story was nothing complex but filled the space with interesting over the top characters, with a far better conclusion to the character stories then MGS4. Also, if you listen to the codec conversations, they put a surprising amount of work into the lore building so the world Rising takes place in makes sense.

MGS5 made Big Boss boring for the sake of an uninteresting twist that in no way made the rest of the boring story less boring. Like, they went out of their way to remove the codec conversations that gave everyone interesting personalities because apparently they heard western players didn't like them or something.

Trailer looks interesting but I'll see what the reviews are like first.

It's not like the Matrix movies have an excellent track record after the first one, and most IPs companies dust off to try and squeeze more money out of it don't fare well as a result.

The thing is, Optimus Primal comes into contact with the original truck Optimus due to time travel shenanigans. His body than becomes more like truck optimus after merging with him for a time.

Before Picard (the show) it'd be Jean Luc, but they just killed his character so horribly that I gotta' go with Mr. Burnt Peppers Sisko himself.

I personally just consider everything that happened to the TNG cast after the last episode of "TNG" an alternate history where everyone is stupid.

It's clear the writers of Picard didn't even watch, let alone care about TNG at all, it's as if they wrote the show based off of just the movies.

The issue is whether the studio sees this as a failure or not.

As this is technically the 3rd Suicide Squad-verse movie, which has soured many people on it at this point. since the 1st two were considered bad for various reasons.

Because they let James Gunn make the movie he wanted to make, rather than make it a cooperate product designed by current trends, appealing to the widest demographic possible, and trying to copy Disney.

I'm rewatching Beast Wars after like 20 years. It's cool that it's free. I decided to do some quick research on the whole franchise and not seeing Optimus Prime as a gorilla is foreign to me.

They explain that in Beast Wars, the animal forms shielded them from the abundance of energon on the planet, that would otherwise have fried them from over exposure when outside the shielding of their ship.

At least, that's what I remember from watching it a long time ago.

The idea of a world that revolves around cards games became increasingly ludicrous but it was unique as a result. Despite being a kids show much of the show is also serialized rather than episodic (although it does become episodic at times, like the early episodes of GX and Zexal).

Card Captors was more akin to Sailor Moon, episodic with a monster of the week.
