I did a singular hunt last night on Rise before I went to bed, it actually felt pretty good. Keeping songs up is basically a complete non-issue now, you just need to do one A attack, one X attack, and one X+A attack in order to have the big all songs attack loaded up, and it stays ready until you use it even if you just start spamming pound attacks.

Im judging prematurely based on your description but it sounds so basic and takes away any thought from the previous system. Not that it was ever that hard but it felt really good to learn a new horn and the new melodies and activate them. I really like how Horn felt inWorld. But thats my only MH Ive gotten into

I believe it does yes. Its kind of the way the game is designed and you definitely have to change your way of thinking from other games. Learning your weapons move set and the monsters move set and whittling it down in a slower more methodical way.

People complain about the shitty joycons all the time, dude. Nintendo dropped the ball there.

There's lots to complain about and criticize Nintendo for, and it's hardly done and you list one example like as if it's not something people complain about and then just kind of accept at the same time?

The fact that Joycons, or their abysmal online system, or the number of other things people rightfully complain about are just like "Oh well we did complain about that a few times" and that's just how it is. Nothing changes or gets better. And these are VERY common complaints but they don't ever go much farther than that.

People don't hold Nintendo's feet to any kind of fire like they do with other companies. And there are WAAAAAAY more Nintendo apologists than any other defender of Video Game prosperities.

So to explain to anyone who doesn't know



So each one of those different coloured notes is a different basic attack you do with the horn. And you can see the different songs each horn allows you to do and the combination of notes you need to complete them.

Then when you've done the correct combination of notes, you can activate them with another button, and they buff/debuff whoever in the area of effect

So why you WOULDN'T use those attacks to hit the monster I don't know lol. I just keep the songs up during my combination of attacks. Sometimes this isn't always the case, and you have a moment where you would just wiff an attack just to get a song up. But honestly, it would be boring as shit and the fight would take way longer if you weren't playing it this way.

Yes TC, there are multiple ways of doing so

Hunting Horn is the most obvious route. You're literally a Bard. You can do decent damage, but your main role is keeping up buffs and debuffs

You can also play a Tank on many different weapon types. Lance is the best, but Sword and Shield, Gunlance, Charge Blade and even Heavy Bow Gun for some reason? That last one I personally don't understand why it's a thing but go nuts

Also with Sword and Shield, it's the only weapon class that doesn't force you to sheath your weapons when using items. So people pair this with the "Wide Range" skill that means everything you consume is shared with your party. So you can be a sort of Alchemist from Final Fantasy, using items to buff and heal in the middle of the fight.
