His brothers and sister went to prison, he looked up to them because that life was all he knew. It wasn't until he himself went to prison that he realized how fucked up he was and wanted to turn his life around. That and his brother Donnie helping him get into acting turned his life around. That doesn't make up for the things he's done, but at least he's making an attempt to better himself.
