Nobody is qualified to do all the things law enforcement is currently expected to do. That is the point of potential reform. Police generally dont know how to respond to someone who has a medical condition, mental disability and so on. Ideally, they should call for medical assistance, but that didnt help in this case, unfortunately. This case is very sad and a fair reason for limiting the scope of police responsibilities.

My brother died in January of last year due to transplant complications (he had cancer). My family and I felt the entire medical team failed miserably and treated him and my family like shit (we are POC/puerto rican). The transplant was part of a clinical trial they signed off on so basically suing them wasn't an option. I was so angry that I got obsessed and started doing research about medical malpractice and stumbled upon those studies. Now I purposely request to be treated by people of color when I go to see a doctor. Those stats were horrifying.

There's been so many fucked up cases of police brutality that came to light over the last month but as someone on the spectrum this one's affected me the most. Apparently one of the "suspicious behaviors" that prompted the 911 call in the first place was him flailing his arms - a common form of stimming for people on the spectrum that I do myself - and that combined with him being an "introvert" leads me to believe he was autistic as well. Obviously the racial dynamic should be acknowledged here, but I hope people also begin to address police brutality against the disabled in light of this story.

Police are just not qualified enough to deal with people properly. They are shit at the majority of their job.

Bubba didn't report it, someone else did.

However it's great that when someone did NASCAR stood up for their driver and said racism doesn't belong in their sport and would investigate. The entire sport showed solidarity with Bubba. It was overall a great thing and had a great moment before the race.

If you can look at the events that happened and somehow say that Bubba was at fault or blew it up intentionally, or that the moment before the race where the entire sport showed solidarity with a minority driver was a problem or 'waste of time', I think you might wanna really take a good hard look at why you're the way you are.

The fact that this wasn't a targeted hate crime is honestly the best news.
