It's just supposed to auto-revert to your default name in the upper right. I just haven't acted on it since I can't pick out a good replacement name for myself. If it reverts to "Solid_Sonic" I don't really care (especially since the offer to modify it goes beyond the deadline anyway).

I have this impression that if humanity were ever to figure out how to overcome the need to sleep whatever measure must be done to do so would quickly become a mandatory requirement of employment so that companies can operate around the clock and demand more hours from their staff.

You're supposed to have an hour off the clock for lunch if you're in at 8 and leaving at 5. It's just a lot of people tend to work themselves into a corner where they just work through lunch and eat at their desk.

I get in at 7:30-ish and leave at 3:30 because everyone else at the office does something similar (when I started here I thought we were expected to stay until 4:30 but then everyone else just leaves after a physical 8 hours have passed anyway).

The entire premise is stupid. If you are single, childless, and have disposable income (these are the three things that come to mind as "many responsibilities") why does that you make you "childish"? Life has no inherent goal, and as long as you can survive and do what you have to, who cares what you do?

I don't think I ever considered Tommy Hilfiger cool clothes. Wore Nike sometimes until high school where most of my friends just wore skater brands, most of which don't exist anymore, and band shirts.

Wear Nike and Adidas now again. DC shoes really fell off on the coolness factor.

Honestly once I dig into what's causing me to be glum they'd probably just say stop feeding yourself negativity, which would mean quit coming here.

Being cynical and jaded is the only way to make it through the day without a desire to cry yourself to sleep or drink yourself stupid.

At least once for sure, possibly more than that since I may have been asymptomatic the first time but I never did a test during that time.

If I can motivate myself to put up with the same kind of corporate BS as I did at my old job I could definitely find something "more rewarding and more challenging for me professionally" on paper, but I realized, I never advanced at my old job before our mass layoff and am accomplishing the same exact thing here by moseying along and not dealing with that stuff. Nepotism and office politics rule anywhere you go, not your "effort"

Have you ever been asked to "prove your worth" at a job?

Basically being given a task that isn't necessarily specific to you or your role but you need to do it so the management feels like you were hired for a good reason.

Had a moment like that at one of my first jobs out of college. It was never said as much but I did feel like the task was arbitrarily given to me just so I could so show them I could do it.

I like being productive.

YMMV if I can find that working for someone else.
