The fact that LUE still has its old reputation amuses me greatly. It actually is very mellow now since it has been closed to new account for about 17 years.

The issue is just that as all the awkward teenagers from the geocities/angelfire era of internet grew up into well functioning adults around the age of 25, they simply got gatekept out of GameFaqs.

Look I enjoy it here. I generally like this place, but I can recognize that the way GameFaqs most hardcore communities behave (CE, Politics, LUE) is not on par with general society. It's not normal behavior.

This place, like most super forums from the late 90's, was inhabited by young social outcasts looking for a place to belong. A safe place to interact and discuss with similar people whom were also in similar situations. That was great!

But the internet evolved. With the rise of social media and the mass adoption of smart phones the internet was normalized. The next generation was on internet since they were small children...it was cool. It was normal.

As the internet became more normalized, the platforms that suceeded and thrived were the ones who adapted to encompass all people - from all walks of life. From the nerdy WoW virgin, to the captain of the cheerleading squad.

GameFaqs was actually doing a pretty good job of this between 2008 - 2012. The stats will show that this site was still onboarding new users at a steady rate. As more and more users graduated college, got careers, began to raise families, it should have became even easier to evolve GameFaqs into a successful mainstream platform - a proto Reddit or Twitch even.

Unfortunately, w/ adulthood comes responsibility and a decrease posting frequency. As such the most active posters were the more recluse members, the users that never actually shed their awkward teenage skins. This antisocial behavior just intensified as the years past by. Eventually, the normal folk, which probably 95% of the GameFaqs userbase evolved into, got gatekept right off the platform.

As more users aged into normalcy and got gatekept off of GameFaqs, the platform stopped onboarding new users. User Aquisition methods were always virtually non-existent, but now it is near impossible to market the platform. I mean, young gamers don't want to hang out with a bunch of 30 year old virgins...that's just weird. How do you market that?

31 - Seeing the shit my family go through with relationships made me grateful I skipped that stress so long - Even if it would have helped me socially....Pretty sure i'm on the spectrum too. I knew a dude who was just working as a manager at subway like 10 years ago and he had an adoptive son. It was awesome He was a pretty ugly dude (not to be rude, but he was just the type of dude who clearly would struggle dating) and he was happy to be a dad of a kid that wasnt his. He didnt have any kind of partner as far as I know.

If you apply for adoption and get declined you cant apply again for quite a while, and it just puts a red flag to your name and makes it more difficult in the future.

So you should definitely have your shit together before applying to adopt.

If you dont care about passing on DNA you could at least give another little human the opportunity to have a good life.

I don't think they let single men adopt children unless they have their shit squarely together, in which case, this really isn't an option for a 30+ year old incel.

I would venture get girlfriend, fall in love, get married, buy a house, then adopt children. But that still relies on him losing his virginity and finding a mate. Its all connected.

Yea. That the issue though. It's why when I gave my advice bullet points they were all very meta. The first one was literally to ask for advice. Hell I'll list them again:

1. Ask for advice
2. Seriously consider the advice given
3. Don't make excuses for yourself to not not seek help/consider the advice

I didn't actually give any real advice throughout this topic, because the first step to even attempting to fix this problem, is to first admit its a problem and seek help. If you don't want to be helped, then you wont be helped. It's that simple.

It's hard to convince the 142 virgin within this board that being an incel is NOT okay, without it coming off as bullying, or harassment. So, it really is impossible to help an incel that doesn't want to be helped.

Thus why my advice just boiled down to "admit you have a problem, and ask for help" - I really thought at least one person in this topic would do so. I even included a link to a safer board where they could seek help, as CE def is not the best place for advice. But so far out of the 142 Incels highlighted by the poll, zero have done so.

All 142 of them are appear to be perfectly content with dying alone, without love, and without family. I just can't understand be contempt with letting society purge there DNA from the gene pool. To me it's utterly heartbreaking. Especially because it can be fixed - it just takes some work.

I think it is different for the gays, I have no problem getting sex or making fwbs with people I deem attractive. But I like guys who have the stereotypical positive traits of both genders, like confident and takes charge, but still emotionally available, and independent.

GameFaqs missed their shot at maintaining a normie userbase when it refused to update itself back around 2012.

Internet use to be reserved for social outcasts, but Myspace came out in 2005, Facebook became universal by 2008, and by 2010 kids were making a lucrative career off of YouTube. Basically, the internet was now a place for normal people...not just social outcasts.

Between 2010-2012 was both when GameFaqs peaked, and when it imploded. By this time the medium age was 25, and for the most part these users did NOT use mainstream social media. They were from that bygone angefire/geocities era of internet.

However, this was also the time period in which majority of core users were now out of college and starting to integrate into society...as actual normal functioning human beings. As such they started gravitating towards more traditional social media platforms.

Had GameFaqs updated itself around this time period to become more modern via a mobile app, Facebook,Twitter, YouTube integration, loosened topicality...and other basic shit, these users probably would have stayed.

On top of that, because it lacked the modern applications of traditional platforms, the younger generation just gravitated elsewhere. Based on the poll from 2019 about age less than 5% are under 21, whereas in 2020 that was about half the userbase.

It's basically impossible to grow this place as is. I mean, the young hip TikTok & Twitch crowd doesn't want to come hangout on GameFaqs where 60% of the userbase are 30 year old virgins.

How do you market that?

Lost my virginity when I was 18 my first weekend in college and Ive been fairly sexually active since then.

I venture to say that everyone on GameFaqs was an awkward teenager/young adult at some point. In 2010 when the medium age of GameFaqs was 25, there was an average of 130k people who would vote in the daily poll. This was also around the time that users started evolving into well functioning "normal " adults. You know, jobs, wives, kids, ect.

Most of the "normies" got driven off the platform by what use to be the vocal minority of what is basically CE & Politics nowadays - the awkward kids from the early 2000's that physically aged but never really evolved passed that social recluse mindset.

This is no longer the minority, it's the majority. The average poll of the day gets aout 12 thousand votes, and the average age is 34. The majority of the old school users who just developed into "normies" stick to mainstream social media.

It is what it is.

That brings you to date one, maybe sex. At which point you get filtered if you're not up to snuff.

So basically all the advice depends on "be desirable" because once you get a date, you only just fucking started the process.

Sometimes it has sometimes it hasn't. They were the ones encouraging me to just tell a girl I was a virgin which is finally what worked. For the most part get your advice from someone of your own sex who has been in your same situation, dealth with the same hurdles, and conquered them.

Yea, that's all true for the most part. I tried hard to help Greycap, but he didn't want to be help, which was fine. I gave up.

The reason I have Greycap on block is because I often frequent the sex board and give relationship advice, including to other incels...and Greycap loves to get involved.

Every single post I've ever made trying to encourage a user to not give up, and to keep pushing forward Greycap will come in and say something akin to:

"Just love yourself. There is nothing wrong with being a virgin. Family isn't for everyone. There is honestly nothing you can do. Some people are just meant to die alone. Just accept it, and learn to live with it. Stop caring."
