And lately I've been listening to a lot of CLC, who basically have the same concept... why is everyone sleeping on them?? Crystyle is such a great album!

CLC had the misfortune of debuting during a very tumultuous time for Cube management. They had minimal promotions, lengthy hiatuses, and it felt like management didn't have a clue. The biggest shit show was probably when they added Eunbin to the group in the middle of Produce 101, thus sinking her chances on the show, but then because of Produce 101, couldn't put her in the MV for her first comeback as a member anyway! Beyond that, they were affected by the general negative sentiment around Cube due to mismanagement across the board resulting in them losing Beast and disbanding 4minute, which of course made things worse. On top of that, CLC had an attitude controversy early on, which was ungrounded as these things tend to be, but it affected them. It's been a rough time for CLC, and unfortunately a lot of people may have written them off at this point. Fortunately, new management has been turning things around, and if they keep it up, they could change the narrative. They're a very charming group with great comedic chemistry, and their recent discography is one of the best in kpop.

i was disappointed in 'i am a woman too' personally. it's a bit too subdued for what i would have wanted from a minah solo.

i don't know if there's a clear pattern to my biases. it's maybe too long a list to discern one, but there are a lot of main vocalists on there.

finally worked out my top 11 for produce 101 china (up to ep. 4):
yang chaoyue
qiang dongyue
gao yingxi
li ziting
meng meiqi
wu xuanyi
fu jing
li zixuan
duan aojuan
yu meihong
zi ning

zi ning started getting screen time and tore through the multi-way tie of chen yihan/yin rui/ju lin/qi yandi/yamy/sunnee/etc.

honestly screen time distribution is probably worse than the original (it is very clear who the main characters are), but episodes are ridiculously long so you still end up learning about a bunch of people, or at least see them often enough to have faves among the supporting cast. like, they did what i've always wanted by airing all the performances together which makes it more fair, but it also means that i was fading by the end of that 3 hour episode.

Openly mocking some of the people that actually support you (well, as much as they can in that system), not sure if that's the right move. I guess she's just taking it out on whoever she can. oh for sure. SM does shit like this, and is also trying to sell expensive flights to stalker fans, and they're the biggest name in the industry rather than some shady fly-by-night operation. kpop fans cosign the commodification of idols hard, and the relationship stuff is only part of it.

haven't dug into how many familiar faces there are, but i did spot park minji, who you might remember as the only A rank trainee from produce 101 to be eliminated in the 1st round because she had her only bit of screen time minutes before the polls closed. she had like 3 camera shots here, so maybe mnet will make up for it this time!
