How does it not suck that they give you some unique Pokemon but locks them in that game?

I really don't understand this.

He's so obsessed with the series to the point where he can't handle any criticism towards the games, but he can never commit to a game file before erasing it and starting over.

Naming your pokeymans is an act of love. It tells them you appreciate them as an individual and not just as some generic member of their species. Not naming them is like just calling your cat "the cat." Like you go to the vet and they ask its name and you're just like, "Doesn't have one, it's a cat."

Fake pokeymans fan. A real trainer names all of their pokeymans and raises them with love and care.

Musou is based entirely on the idea that you are a one man army cutting through a battlefield. Because of this goal the best musous will have you start in the think of things, with the battlefield littered with enemies, and you will have to fight your way through it all. Age of Calamity doesn't do this at all and instead constantly gives you largely empty battlefields that have enemy armies just kind of appear as they are necessary. This artificially shrinks the battles and means that there is never a sense of a "clash" because the enemy is almost never on the move. Because of this there is almost never actually a real sense of dread because of the potential for losing is tied almost always to a stage gimmick/you dying. Compare that to something like earlier musous where it was an actual battle with your keeps/whatever actually potentially being taken (especially on the hardest difficulty) and it's a very night and day thing.

All this culminates in the encounters just coming across as a paper army for you to cut through sheerly because that's what you are supposed to do in a musou rather than because you are taking part in a massive battle. Thus for people who like musou for anything beyond "I make da death count number big!" it fails to actually capture any of the reason people actually play the genre. It has fun enough minute to minute gameplay, but you would be better off playing DMC or something if that was all that mattered.

It's fine as a game, terrible as a musou.

They're bigger versions of a few specific pokemon. Gumshoos, Alolan Raticate, Wishiwashi/Aquaranid, Salazzle/Alolan Marowak, Vikavolt/Togedemaru (these three depending on if SM or USUM), Lurantis, Mimikyu, Kommo-o, and Ribombee (USUM only)

Are each totem Pokmon a specific Pokdex number? Or does totem Pokmon more refer to a title or something ?
