Democrats and Republicans have two completely different approaches to winning elections. Democrats want to do it through legitimate electoral politics, by appeasing the "most" amount of people they possibly can and being meticulous about not doing anything that might "look bad" to certain segments of voters. They are deathly afraid of appearing to be anything other than reasonable, agreeable and inclusive, even to their worst enemies. This results in constant half-measures that don't fully address problems and eventually lead to voter apathy and a loss of support. It's why they'll pay lip service to things like universal healthcare, college tuition, marijuana legalization, expansion of voting rights, etc., but never actually do anything meaningful about it.

But Republicans don't give a shit about any of that stuff and most importantly, they don't give a shit about what you think. They are openly shitty people who maintain their support and their place in society by actually doing the things their voters want them to do, no matter how shitty it is for the rest of us. They don't care about how they win. They just care about winning, even if it means tossing out any democratic practices that might cause them to lose. They're fully committed to this fascist shit and they don't care if you or even their own voters know that, because they know that as long as they keep their voters insecure and paranoid about their place in American society, they'll always maintain their support by finding a target to rally them against.

In short, Democrats go high when they go low, but everybody knows that real fights aren't won by being honorable.
