Kanye wasn't into politics until pretty recently, last election being the first time he ever voted. Kanye doesn't want to fit into a box and wants to do his own thing as evidenced by some of the outrageous things he has done or said over the years. Democrats have controlled the black vote with the stick and carrot therory since they have been allowed to vote. Kanye has thrown away the stick and just grabbed the carrot. The black neighborhoods in democrat run cities are in horrible condition because they get their vote and do nothing for them afterwords. The black neighborhoods in republican cities aren't much better either.
