Note: One of the coolest town themes ever.

Skies of Arcadia: Legends is an all-time top five game. It's been there since 2003 and hasn't left in twenty years. The characters, setting, plot, strategy, discovery, base building, ship battles, art style and color palette, and sight-seeing are all huge and important reasons why it's up there, but its the soundtrack above all that keeps it so high. Battle themes, deserts, cityscapes, Eastern regions, sailing themes... the soundtrack is one of the best Sega has put out. "Kingdom of Ixa'taka" is easily my favorite track in the game. There such a joyful hidden tribe feel to it. It is welcoming, celebratory, familial yet wild with huge nature feels. It's not only a region I look most forward to reaching when I start up the game, but also such a welcome relief after the hellish tornado valley full of constant strong monster and looper battles that you can finally rest and relax. "Kingdom of Ixa'taka" is pure respite.

The first three songs I've listened to today (twice each already, haven't even touched fourth song) is already frustrating me.

Some Fantastic is a bop, full of personal memory and emotion, and I sing along the entire song. It has greater love than Going the Distance.

Going the Distance is an insanely dramatic score full of trial and perseverance. It is a gauntlet of percussions and trumpets through to the end and it is glorious. It is greater hype than SSJ3 Ascension.

SSJ3 Ascension is instant nostalgic grandiose sky-soaring celebration and awe. It hits those feels deep inside. It has more tingles than Some Fantastic.

Yes. It's complicated with how the St. Croixs powers interact with each other, but Penance is the ruby-red girl with sharp hair and fingers in Generation X while M is the super confident intelligent powerful flying cool person. Except Penance is really a trapped Monet St. Croix, and M is Monet's two missing younger twin sisters in one body. And at one point M becomes M-Plate, and... it's all confusing, and I don't fully understand, and their everything needs a fully dedicated Jay & Miles episode on them.

Exclusively because of Krakoa Era (which also goes for Greycrow, Nanny, Gorgon, and Orphan Maker). Exodus has actually been pretty excellent even though I dont know anything about him prior to the Krakoan Era or even understood his character during the msjority of the run, but he's been pretty great to read the past year or so.

so like, man the graphics in that game are amazing. especially for the time. areas come to life with random weather effects, day & night cycles, and all around the atmosphere is top notch. all the major areas are linked, and theres no loading screens between them, so it really feels like youre exploring a strange alien world

I am absolutely fine with "Star-Spangled Man" being my lowest! I don't remember my exact reasons for nominating it, but after going through two dozen or so superhero...

Wow. This is "Welcome to the Black Parade?" I thought I'd heard it before, but apparently not and I am underwhelmed by the hype.

Anyways, going through tons of superhero themes and power rangers and mostly instrumentals, hearing how different "Star-Spangled Man" was in comparison was the point where I nominated it and moved on without a second thought. There was also an interest in how it would rank because I didn't expect "Fresh Goes Better" to be a hit when I nominated it before (or someone else nominated it and I nominated it again later? It's 1am), so... I'm not surprised, I'm not sad, I'm glad it's my first one out, and if anything, I'm getting Radiohead's "Idioteque" flashbacks right now with "Welcome to the Black Parade," like am I just not getting why people rave about it?

Note: In a game with plenty of amazing tracks, this is currently my favorite. No doubt things can change with further and more extensive perusal.

Xenoblade had already been large. A big starting town in a large lake surrounded by huge walls and tons of wildlife. But like Final Fantasy VII, the first town can be stupidly large and take up the first few hours no problem. And also like Final Fantasy VII, leaving town for the first time and seeing just how vast the rest of the world is... is huge. First you get the real first sight of sky and dimension leaving that cavern, then you hit Gaur Plains and... my goodness. It's so vast with so much wildlife and monsters that do not cater to the player's level, AND THE MUSIC. One of the best tracks in a video game, IMO, and it accompanies just how real an adventure you're finding yourself on.

Still is. This is what I picture cruising along towards the beach on a day of sun and surf and hakuna matata to be. It's summer adventure and blue skies on the open road. I still love this song, and will always love this song.
