what should I get my dad for christmas?

He likes the Vikings and the Wild. One of his hobbies is smoking meat..he's got this big smoker and he makes biscuit with it, but idk if he needs any accessories for that. He's also finishing up the basement at the new house..anyone have any ideas for a cool "man cave" item?

There's this fancy cheese shop near me that sells this really fancy ham that he likes (some of it is $90 a pound!), so last resort I could go there and get a pound of some of the not crazy expensive stuff.

I'm not really sure what you're talking about though... there's quite a lot of single player modes and challenges, and an adventure mode called world of light that's apparently pretty long

They don't have them in MN. They were everywhere when I lived in texas as a lad but never went.

How young was the kid? If they were 10/11 or younger I can kind of understand because when they're that young they'll play anything and think it's good, but if they're older they should know better to play a touch screen fps

I'm surprised they haven't done more Final Fantasy characters. That's a goldmine, and they already got whatever licensing is required to have Cloud, so you'd think it wouldn't be that much more difficult to get Sephiroth or Auron or one of the many non sword-wielding FF characters.

Here is my take on items:
I've always been fairly casual with the smash games...I have played them quite a bit, but have never been any good. Items can be fun, but for me personally it's way more fun to play without them. When items are on it just feels like instead of learning how to use your character and abilities to win, the focus is on rushing toward items when they spawn and using them to win. It really seems like the game isn't balanced around items, and sometimes a really strong one is gonna spawn near you and will swing the balance in your favor.. I'm fine with getting my ass kicked, demonstrated by the fact that I keep playing with Kevin and Brian, but I'd rather lose by abilities than items 10/10 times.

I joined that arena while a battle was in progress, and was stuck in that menu in the picture until the battle ended. Then another 1on1 battle started, and I got to spectate, but it was really laggy and then a message saying something like "An error has occured" and I got booted. I can't be 100% sure, but I have pretty decent internet and I don't think the problem is on my end.

Yeah maybe you can, I didn't mess around with it for very long. I also don't know if this arena mode has a rating system, but I'd really prefer to play with ratings if possible.

I'm trying out that arena thing right now. I joined a public 1 on 1 arena for all skill levels. For some reason, they allow 6 people to an arena for 1 on 1 battles, and 4 people sit in the menu waiting their turn literally doing nothing while 2 people battle. Here's a live look:

Maybe this game mode is better for group battles or something, but it does not appear to be the solution for 1v1. I just want to play a 1 on 1 no items on a normal map but the game is making it impossible.

I tried a few games of online matchmaking on Smash, and the online system is really bad. I hope they fix it. From what I understand, you set your "preferred" rules, and it puts you into a game based on that. My preferred was 1v1, stock, no items, so of course I got put into 4 player free for all games with items on some dumb map with a bunch of hazards. And for every matchmaking game you play, it adjusts your rating based on how you did, so my rating went down for playing an item spam free-for-all game, even though that's not how I wanted to play. It was also pretty laggy.

So as it is right now, the only way to consistently play the modes you want, you have to use the god awful friend code system and go to a message board and find people to play against, and in that mode there's not a rating system. So basically you have to go way out of your way to play against someone that may or may not be near your skill levl.

I don't understand how Nintendo has been so consistently awful at online play, and it's been this way forever. The freaking PS2 online was wayyy better than anything Nintendo has ever done. And it's laughable that they charge for this shit now. I know it's "only" $20 a year or whatever, but the fact that they're charging for a shit service that's 20+ years outdated is a complete joke.

No it was from Holiday. Do you guys have Holiday gas stations where you live? I've noticed that gas stations are like grocery stores. In your home state, a certain franchise is everywhere, but go 2 states away and nobody's ever heard of it.

Putting in 2 weeks notice is just the decent way to do things, especially if you want to use this place as a reference or work there again in the future. A future employer isn't going to know you worked there by doing a background check. They'd only know if you told them you did/put it on your resume (which most employers probably expect you to do). Putting in a 2 weeks and working through it is the best thing to do though, obv

Last Christmas saw one of my cousins and her kids. The kids got these Chinese radio shack pieces of shit things like you mentioned instead of a 3ds or whatever. It said it has thousands of games, but the menu had the same 25 crappy ROM games loaded over and over, so you cycle through the same set of games thousands of times. I messed around with it for a bit. Giant POS product.
