| MMXcalibur 09/18/18 12:43:19 PM #64 | MMXcaliburs Prediction Ryu by 49,109 I see no contest this match. July 27th is all Ryu, all the time. While this may not be the biggest blowout in the tournament, Ryu should set himself up with a solid enough victory to make his match against Dante even more intriguing. Street Fighter, while it may not be as popular as years past, is still decent enough popularity wise to oust Duke Nukem with ease. The view of Ryu will garnish SF memories of years past and maybe even those of the present come gametime. Is there chance for an upset? I dont believe so. Ryu is known far more than Dukes only victim in SC play, Iori Yagami. However should it happen, an upset would seriously make me stare at the computer screen in absolute awe. I just dont see it coming. Ryu is the better of these two characters. Seeding reflects this correctly. (Imagine that! A match where seeding seems RIGHT!) What Ryu does here will give us a good estimate at how he CAN do the rest of the contest. Dante is no slouch, but Dante got his ass paddled last year the first time he met some tougher competition. Solid Snake isnt the hardest to tackle, and if Vercetti is able to get to the Western finals (god forbid.) who knows? But then again, this match is going to have to look DAMN good to get thoughts of Division Champion thru the minds of SF fans. However, for this match *Ryu winning pose* YOU WIN! Another tea-time with Mr. Nukem! Last year, we left our brash hero as he was edged off of Round 3s platform by Castlevania star, Alucard. Yet, this was not before taking Iori Yagami down with him. This year, Duke faces another fighting character. But this is the character who gave berth to fighting, HE IS THE DADDY OF ALL FIGHTING CHARACTERS!!! (Again, go ask your ma and pa about the whole baby thingtell your mom MMX sent you. KIDDING! KIDDING! >.>really..*ahem*..) Dont look too much into Dukes win over Iori. The win over Iori was when the contest was still fresh and new. The contests image has changed today. And to add to that, Dukes win over Iori still wasnt all that impressive. To add FURTHER to that, Iori isnt the most popular. To add EVEN MORE to th*Nukem loads gun*.Im done. Ryu is NO Iori and Duke is in for rough waters come Sunday. Duke hasnt had any real mentioning since last years contest, video game-wise. He should get about the same support as he had last year. Well, minus some.Duke just gets a wee-bit older and that gun gets a wee-bit heavier to carry. Thus, voters might not recognize WHO Duke is.In THIS contest, guns dont solve problems, making statements on a message board that have enough sarcasm to make light of the user in question. THAT is what solves problems. Waitno it doesntit solves NOTHING! For Duke to solve his Ryu problem, popularity is needed and lots of it. Sure you have your Tekkens and your Dead or Alives NOW, but this game brought the genre of fighting to the forefront. Twas a simple game, pick one of 8 fighters and haul-ass all over the world, punching and kicking anything that disagreed with you. One of these 8 fighters took full charge as series mascot. This character is your 5th seed in the Western division. This character is Ryu. How did Ryu be SFs main man and not Ken, Blanka or Guile? You got me. Maybe he won a drinking contest or ate the most worms.who knows.but Ryu IS Street Fighter and has been in kickin ass since then. You cant really **** up his controls. If youve played as Ryu since SFII and pick up SFA3, I think youll feel right at home with Ryu. His controls dont change and if they dothey are just slightly altered. This constant configuration has gave even the most inexperienced rookie a shot at one of the newer SF games even if they only had SFII to play. Street Fighter nostalgia should kick in come match time and give good ol Ryu a good lead on Duke. Ryu has no anti- votes that plague Mario or Final Fantasy characters. Even Ryus buddy, Ken got around 25-30% of the vote against a gaming LEGEND in Sonic the Hedgehog. 30% is saying a lot considering how Ken was a 15 seed and expected to be Sonics ***** the entire day. Kens sacrifice equals good news for Ryu before he heads into the fray. Not being well-known is not going to be a problem for this legend. The mans been tossed around on so many systems, Im shocked he isnt already two console generations ahead of us by now. He has gotten his name spread around more than that girls number on the bathroom stall. Ryu is everywhere! The man also has connections. Ryu and Spider-Man usually go shoot pool and Ryu and Kyo Kusanagi go cruisin for chicks on occasion..how does he have SUCH connections? The Marvel vs Capcom series and the Capcom vs SNK series.the company hooked him up! On the contest scene last year, Ryu eliminated that king amongst men, CATS (*groan*) and gave a tough fight against Samus before bowing out. This year, Samus is WAAAAYYY on the other side of the bracket and Ryu can actually make it toGASP!the division finals! Duke Nukem is mediocre at best, Dante is fairly new and is suspectible to lack of support (CrrrrooonnnoooCrrrroooonnoooo), Snake is the weakest of the #1 seeds, hell the chance is there! GO WEST, YOUNG MAN!!!! And he might, if his support is overwhelming enough. Ryu can very well be the Crono of this years contest.
