I dont usually buy used games, but there were so many times I would try to buy a new game and was handed an open copy. I always asked why it was open and they told me they open all of them. Eventually I stopped buying games there unless they were exclusive or had some bonus for buying from them. Every one of these times had stickers on the opened cases

Nitpick? Maybe. But if Im buying a new game why is it opened with stickers on it?

That was a good robin though. Frustrating to play against, it was hard to get in close (I think I was playing Ike)

Man, I always felt that compared to VIII, every DQ that I played before it was a slog to get through.

I played like 5 hours into VIII when it came out (Ive been playing through them in order over the last 3-4 years, and this one is next), but thats it. VI and VII were the only ones that felt like a slog to me. I dont bother with party chat though, the less text the better

I mean I love that its a dragon quest game. The art, music and classic DQ charm was
all there but the pacing of this game was by far the worst Ive ever experienced. Even the ending took 45 minutes!

It reminds me of playing skyward sword, which to me is easily the worst Zelda game for a lot of the same reasons DQVII is the worst DQ game

I like both Seals and Whales as names, but the problems there are the NHL already had the California Seals/Oakland Seals/California Golden Seals and the Hartford Whalers.

I think Kraken is cool too, but yeah, it does sound a bit minor league/arena league/etc. in nature.

As someone who has never heard of a Sockeye before, the first thing I picture with that name is something like a sock puppet with googly eyes on it.

Maybe Emerald is the best overall choice.

This is almost spot on with my thinking as well, except I think sockeye would be a pretty cool and unique name. I dont see that happening though. Emerald it is

I thought VII 3DS was awful. I played for about 25 or 30 hours and it was a fucking slog. All the mini stories in the past were boring with the exception of maybe one. So much text for such mediocre writing. It's so slow. Everyone who likes the game would keep saying the game gets way better after something called Alltrades at the 20ish hour point and the game 'begins'. Definitely not the case. I think I did two or three more scenarios in the past and it was just as boring and uninteresting as before.

Other minor complaints include every town looking more or less the same, constant pop in of trees on the overworld, and the fact that the map on the bottom screen doesn't have any of the towns labeled. Good luck figuring out where to zoom if you want to go to a specific region on the map once you have more than a dozen options.

This. Im 70ish hours into this game and it has been a chore every time Ive turned it on. I think I actually hate this game. Ive been playing it for 2 years, and Ill finish it, but the only thing keeping me going is that I want to beat them all.

Anyways, I love all of them that Ive played besides VII. VI I thought had some pacing issues also, but nowhere near that of VII.

I - a must play. So simple but just a good time
II - I never played the NES version but I love the iOS port. More of the same but added party members
III - this was the game changer. You can start to see JRPGs evolutionize. I dont like job systems but I like this game a lot
IV - my second favorite in the series
V - my favorite in the series. I dont normally care about stories, but this is a great one. Also has probably my favorite music in the series
VI - wanted it to end hours before it did, but a good game still

Only played 5ish hours each of VIII, IX and XI but I cant wait to get back to them

The world is way too empty, though. You can go 15 minutes and not find anything to do. I legit don't feel excited because of that. If I want to go sightseeing, there's a real world out there. I don't play video games to "go exploring" - I play them to "do shit." I also hate how easily the weapons break. Disrupts combat far more than it should.

I went in thinking I'd like it a lot more than I ultimately did. Still a good game and leagues better than Skyward Snore, but a disappointment for me nonetheless.

I stopped reading the topic here, but I dont think I like anything about you based on that post. I realize that doesnt mean anything at all, but you dont seem pleasant and I just wanted to point that out because Im feeling bitter about your demeanor
