That's one thing, but I what baffled me so much is the augmentin dose for otitis media is a very common thing I would think. I've always seen and done high dose for it.

We got a script for augmentin for a kiddo for otitis media. Normal dosing is 90 mg/kg/day divided into two daily doses, which I see all the time. This script we got was for a dose of roughly 40 mg/kg/day.

I ended up calling the doctor about it and she said she's never heard of augmentin being dosed higher than 45 mg/kg/day and she's never done anything over that. I pulled up some sources since she didn't believe me and she told me she'd have to call me back.

Ten minutes later she called and told me that if I go to drugs.com and look up augmentin under the pediatric section, it says 45 mg/kg/day. I was kinda shocked that an MD referenced drugs.com to me and it took me a second to really know what to say to that, but I told her I have other sources in front of me, including a pediatric medical journal, that references 90 mg/kg/day. She told me she would send a new script "against her better judgement". What?

I dunno what happened, but really bad ear pain hit me like a freaking bus over the course of the day. I'm going to try to take it easy because this ear just HURTS. It's making me slightly nauseous too.

Temperatures in St. Louis hit the mid 60s a day or two ago. Now, we are expecting sub-freezing temperatures with snow/ice this afternoon and into tomorrow morning.
