TopicWho's the worst party member in Chrono Trigger?

It depends on how you measure it. The answer is different if you mean their strength throughout the story, versus their strength at the endgame, versus their strength at level 99, versus their strength at level 99 with maxed stats. And yeah Chrono Trigger is such an easy game the whole debate is kind of pointless but it is fun to consider.

It's easy to say Marle because she doesn't do a lot of damage and for some reason she doesn't learn a non-dual-tech heal-all spell despite being the support character. Even Frog and Robo get a heal-all. But I think a lot of people underestimate Haste. It basically doubles a character's DPS and it lasts really long in Chrono Trigger, usually one cast goes an entire boss battle. At the very endgame you can get Haste Helms for auto-haste without Marle though so her use dies down then.

Frog has moments in the story where he's pretty good but no real specialization and his single techs are really nothing special so speaking endgame or level 99 he doesn't scale up like some other characters do. Similarly, Magus doesn't have a lot of utility. He has amazing stats out of the box but it is technically possible for other characters to have mostly the same amazing stats with enough grinding.

It's the opposite of the question but it's worth emphasizing Ayla is by far the best character at level 99 and it's not even close. Her Bronze Fist is just broken, and the DS version adds new equipment that makes it even more broken.

This was actually the original ending, but test audiences didn't like that. Probably not because of their deep understanding of the movie's messages, but more because the hero spent the whole movie pining over her and thus "should" have ended up with her by twisted romcom logic (See certain people's reactions to 500 Days of Summer...). You can tell this was clearly the original ending, too, it's not only extended but all of the supporting cast reappear briefly for a parting word.
Well, and it's also totally different from the comic's ending so it would upset existing fans too. I love the movie but the Knives ending only kind of works in the movie because it rushes through the plot so much there's barely any moments for a viewer to see why Ramona and Scott enjoy dating each other.

Yeah. And people say that it's better than Prime 2's keys because Prime 2's keys can only really be obtained at the end. But as a stupid kid I barely found any naturally and needed to do them all at the end anyway so it was exhausting to me then. Weird all the games then that had random fetch quests right before the end.

Steam version is mostly the DS version except it's weirdly missing a couple things that were added in the DS version like the Arena of Ages. But the additional DS content is almost all really bad anyway so it's almost not even worth comparing. Some people will say SNES version can't be beaten and it's fine to play it too, just keep in mind the SNES version is a classic Ted Woolsey localization complete with some questionable translation decisions.

explain

what do you have to do there

what does it do
You need to get to the bottom below the barrel. When you jump on the barrel it bounces down and up. You're led to think that you need to jump on it up and down in a rhythm so that it bounces faster and faster until it bounces so far downward that you can jump off below. The worst part is that you have Sonic + Tails and Tails jumps on it at the right time with you then it actually looks like it should be possible.

But the real solution is an unexplained and otherwise unused mechanic in the game where if you jump on the barrel and just hold the up and down buttons you can actually control the movement of the barrel. Which also doesn't really make any logical sense. How is Sonic controlling it when he stands on it? So a lot of kids would've enjoyed the first few areas of Sonic 3 and never got to the Ice Cap Zone and further because of this.

byron's daughter is widely revered as the first computer programmer
I hate being that guy but it is a little bit of a misleading title and I always felt it takes away from Charles Babbage in the story. Lovelace was definitely not the first programmer, but probably the first "published programmer", for whatever that's worth.

Lovelace was a genius, but the programmer part comes in with her work with Babbage on his Analytical Engine. Babbage was a polymath as well and spent a large part of his life designing and building what would've been a Turing-complete computer decades and decades ahead of the real first computer. Babbage, at least one of his sons, and a few of his machinists would have all knew and written how a program on the Analytical Engine would've been computed after the decades they spent planning and building it. But the machine was never completed (for various reasons - partly because his machinist basically scammed him and partly because of the sorry state of Britain's science community at the time) and Babbage famously never published any writings about the machine. Lovelace helped Babbage enormously as a translator, and translated notes for Babbage on the Engine and included with it guided notes on how his engine would compute Bernoulli numbers. That's what was published, and that's how Lovelace is "the first published programmer". Which is still important, but on this area she was definitely more of a side character than the main character.

KH2FM superbosses actually legitimately interestingly difficult. Data Org and Lingering Will a bit moreso than Sephiroth. Those fights really make you utilize the full scope of KH2's game mechanics to beat them and anything that happens to you in the fights is avoidable.

Birth By Sleep's superbosses are so so awful though. Well really, BBS's entire battle system is awful. It feels like the developers threw together a bunch of different mechanics without testing them. Regular Finish Commands are useless. Command Styles are useless. D-Links are mostly useless. 75% of the Shotlocks are useless, and by far one of the best ones (Ragnarok) can be unlocked at the beginning of the game. Most of the commands in general are useless.

With the Superbosses it's like the devs realized "oh shit. we accidentally kinda made it really hard to die if you have Second Chance and One More and Leaf Bracer. nothing will ever kill you in one combo and you have invincibility when you heal". And so they designed the superbosses around overwhelming you with so many attacks and bullets that can't be dodged that you need Second Chance and One More and Leaf Bracer and nonstop roll-spam for extra invincibility frames and the only attack you can realistically use is Thunder Surge because of its invincibility frames. And you'll die anyway when the game weirdly considered a combo hit not part of the combo and One More doesn't activate when it should have, which happens a few times in the OP video. It's like they deliberately made the least fun possible superbosses that encourage you to use exactly none of the game's battle mechanics and instead just try your best to spam invincibility frames in between 15-second combo + curaga loops.

I 100%'d BBS with all characters on Critical Mode btw...

TROS is specifically hilarious to me because having the direction of "What if the evil dark bad guy pulling the strings fucked up and control went to his emotional and unprepared apprentice" would have been something new from the franchise.

But not only did they retreat back into the same old puppet master plot they literally went back to the same old puppet master they used for 6 movies already. Now he's behind all 9 mainline movies. So now we have a puppet master behind the puppet master. It's obvious that the people behind TROS were either creatively bankrupt or thought retreading the same old stuff was the safest thing to do after TLJ.
I don't disagree with you but it would've been tough to pull off making Kylo the only villain of IX. Rey had pretty much proven she's about his equal already by the end of VIII and even at the end of VII she put up a pretty strong showing against him. VIII even fucked up making Hux a villain in the sequel when it made all the Hux scenes pure comedy relief. Which is why IX had to just altogether introduce a new scary British Imperial guy in General Pryde. Although then to be fair, I thought Hux seemed like a lame villain in VII too so maybe there's not a lot lost there.

There would've had to be some sort of twist or development with it for Kylo to carry the bad guy half. Maybe introducing the Knights of Ren is kind of a development in that regard, but Knights of Ren were squandered so late in the trilogy. We knew they were supposed to exist since before VII even came out, but by the time we finally see them we can assume Rey probably could've taken them all on with her hands tied, since she could already match their leader.

Oh, and killing Phasma in VIII was a waste too. She was wasted in VII too I guess. Man they really fucked almost every villain they tried to set up...

It definitely would have been odd if he just came in at the climax to help win the final battle. But then, he also should play a part with Wanda next. Part of the Agatha / Wanda stuff near the end was about how Wanda has her powers without any of the magical knowledge that other witches spend their lives researching. Wanda beats Agatha by applying what's apparently fundamental witch stuff that she picked up on the spot from Agatha.

So it'd be strange now if after all of this Wanda didn't go to her Avenger-adjacent friend who is the supreme expert on all things magical in the universe.

Right. He didn't suggest people should inject disinfectants into their body. He was just wondering if it would be a good idea or not. The point is that every kindergartener in America can tell you that it's a horrible idea. The next day, by the way, he claimed that he was CLEARLY being sarcastic here. It was just a joke to inject disinfectants. And after this event he canceled coronavirus briefings for a few months out of embarrassment.

It's all made worse that Dr Birx had no choice but to pretend in her reaction to him that it's not a completely unreasonable idea. Both her and Fauci have discussed at length in recent months how they had to tiptoe around contradicting any of the ridiculous things Trump was saying, or else feel his wrath. Which we obviously saw toward the end of 2020 when Trump was very outright smearing Fauci. The disinfectant injection thing is just a quintessential example of the clusterfuck of a Covid response under Trump.
