With Itzy they offer enough variety to like and not like as much, but not necessarily dislike. I liked Not Shy but then was whatever about In the Morning that I believe came right after. Actually a lot of the slower tempo songs seem whatever imo, because it's we know they have a lot of dynamic range and volume on tap, and they don't use it for such songs. Sneakers was in a lukewarm area for me. I think the visual and lyrical concept didn't seem compelling. A bit redundant to their early concepts. I personally was anticipating some kind of marketing attempt with Adidas (I'm not sure if they still have a relationship). The general promotions for Checkmate and Guess Who were a bit silly for my tastes. Where in contrast they now show up with Cheshire debuting at MAMA. Performed that like pros. Wouldn't say they had any real strong tracks this year, but they're still one of the better groups to execute on a live stage. Although one nitpick is Yeji's(?) high note on Chesire only exists as a backtrack vocal and not done live. C'mon this is Itzy not Twice. One of those things that were properly worked on to make them likeable. There's a more human factor to it. Most other groups, you'll find some kind of lack of diversity and some have emphasis on fixated eye contact (IVE being a current example). G-IDLE tends to just always look cold imo. Them, and other groups have some kind of unoriginal direction of trying to look attractive, with their own attempts at edgy concepts. Unfortunately I kinda put Aespa in that pool too. Then there's groups like Everglow and Loona where I noticed some very forced timing on frequent winks. I'm not saying that's all groups that come up short, but I feel like it's a lot. It makes them look dated and systematic. Sometimes it's not the entire group, but certain members. Unfortunately I'm gonna have to say Jisoo is an example. That's just me, won't judge who does when they're generally into watching such programs. Both groups definitely are solid executions. LE SSERAFIM is a beneficiary of two IZ*ONE members (arguably of the most popular), but whole group came with instant familiarity and distinction. The voices blend well. NewJeans impresses me more mainly because of how they didn't have that element of established members. And I think their approach seemed more naturally creative vs the targeted "fashion" image of LE SSERAFIM which I don't hate, but I do feel like NewJeans more purely let their work speak for themselves. But Chaewon is my current crush in the industry. Both groups are solid. Live vocals on the debuts unfortunately is a bit of an exceptional remark in this industry. Apart from NCT, Lesserafim and New Jeans have put out the best choreography for the new generation imo. Kazuha has been more intriguing member for me. I vaguely know the ballet background and stuff, but don't know where the vocal training history is. I thought she was a late pickup for the group and she's carrying a lot of the lyrical load. I was bad with the first watch, not used to that bangs cut she switched too. And I believe the bridge is a bit misleading. Overall this was surprisingly even distribution. Just her and Kura aren't getting verses paerarru posted... Great, LS ruined my Sunday night. I can't watch anything else now! I'm addicted! One listen! I think when considering the period of time for the producers to create the track, and the girls to figure it out, and how it's not of a typical style for them to cover it's a crazy piece of work put together imo, just like their last album. I think Hybe is doing a real solid with adapting more western style and it's already branching out of the current gen of the industry. Bilingual and international talents (as performers and production) are becoming the new norm in driving how a track sounds and how it performs. I'm not sure Lesserfim or NewJeans will be it, but I think Hybe recognizes BTS has become a stepping stone in western adaptation and is probably going to get a future project to properly integrate into other mainstreams. BTS only made headway because of existing popularity. Not to be a hater, but "Dynamite", "Butter", PTD are just token tracks imo. As a stage act he was of the few who can actually dance. Come to think of it, who stateside has been able to match that? Most every other American artist has some lazy choreography to work off of. It's become a lost art in Pop and R&B.
