I take part in a once or twice a year video game tournament for charity put on by some friends. It usually isn't much but we end up sending 500 to 1000 bucks to Childs Play each time.

The next one (in October) is Halloween themed with a costume contest and Zombies Ate My Neighbors as a game. I'm totally dressing as Zeke. Gonna get a 6 pack of soda and attach it to my belt. Maybe mix up a potion with some coloring or a first aid kit or something too.

That's awesome. Get some blue and red 3D glasses too!

Nintendo doesn't have the balls.

It's frustrating how inconsequential characters like Pichu or Ice Climbers get in, or clones like Dr. Mario or Young Link, or way more Fire Emblem characters than there ever should have been, but these characters from a cult favorite game who would be a shoe in for Smash get the shaft.

...and there exists a unique independent cosmos for every conceivable reality, is it not then implied that every work of fiction conjured by the mind of a man or woman, each book, film, television series--they all actually exist in one of these alternate universes? That somewhere in the multiverse, there really are FBI agents named Mulder and Scully investigating bizarre phenomena under the mandate of the FBI?

And conversely, does it not also imply that we ourselves exist in the form of a fictional work in one of these alternate universes? And if we even entertain the notion of that idea for the briefest moment, it leads us to a disturbing question: what if this, our apparent reality, is the fictional work of another universe? Perhaps one advanced to the extent that an in-depth cosmic simulation is not only possible but currently underway--and we are the characters.

It's about their belief system. Their personal religion. It's not about money.

Money is why the west aligns with them, that's what I meant.

Certainly. The infallible command of God serves as a template for the dynamic of spouses. Christian weddings literally have the wife vow to submit to her husband.

IIRC, "fear" used to have a slightly more nuanced connotation in religious contexts, one which implied awed respect rather than terror. I'm an atheist who hasn't researched religion in a while, though, so I may be way off mark.

Even as a kid I didn't think Pluto being a planet made much sense. You've got the four small inner terrestrial rocky planets, then the four gargantuan outer gas giant planets, then itty bitty little Pluto. The pattern didn't fit.

I mean, I accepted it as a planet because that's what I was taught growing up, but it always seemed unusual to me. Then when the IAU officially demoted to dwarf planet, I thought "hm, makes sense."

James probably could have done it if he got a tougher board the day he lost. He beat the person he lost to in the tournament of champions.

Interesting point, the idea that certain people like Ken and James could actually be hindered by an easier board, since that allows the other competitors to chime in, whereas Ken and James are so knowledgeable that a board others would regard as insanely difficult, Ken and James would have a field day.

As acknowledged as he is, I still don't think there is enough respect on Ken Jennings' name. It has been over a decade and a half since his 74-game winning streak on Jeopardy, and still no one has come close to matching or surpassing that feat.

The second most successful contestant, James Holzhauer, who himself was a monster and set several records (breaking the $100,000 mark in a single game multiple times) ended up losing in game 33--not even half of Ken's mark.

And when the two went head to head in the Greatest of All Time Tournament (which Jennings won, 3-1), Holzhauer literally bowed to Ken.

His knowledge base and unmitigated love for trivia is an inspiration.

Are the questions all separated by question marks?

If so, just pop it into excel and deliminate by question mark and that should work. Then pop it back into note if you can't immediately just go back into that program from excel

Unfortunately, no question marks. I have them written out as statements like on Jeopardy.

When I export into Notepad, each individual question (even on the same card) is separated by "gt;"). I used Replace All to change those to a vertical bar symbol, then tried the delimit option on Excel but it didn't seem to work for some reason. It was removing some of the data.

I have a flash card program called Anki. The way each card is currently formatted, they actually have five different questions, with the five answers on the reverse.

Example:

"> Question 1
> Question 2
> Question 3
> Question 4
> Question 5

> Answer 1
> Answer 2
> Answer 3
> Answer 4
> Answer 5"

However, I don't want five per card. I want one question per card. And before you reply "Just copy and paste into separate cards or retype new ones," there are so many cards saved it will literally take me months to do this raw.

Now, Anki allows you to export and import files. So I can, for instance, export the entire deck into a program like Notepad.

In Notepad, a single line can be imported into Anki as a card. So from Notepad, "Question [tab] Answer" would automatically be converted into an index card when imported into Anki.

The problem is, when I export the Anki deck into Notepad, each line consists of five questions followed by the five related answers. I can't easily format it to be imported into Anki. I would have to manually separate the lines and append the answers, which as I said will literally take me months.

MY IDEA:

The only way I see this being feasible is to somehow separate the questions from the answers all in one go, have the questions as a separate text document, the answers as another, and then splice them together, where each individual answer line is appended to each individual question line, in order, at which point I can import to Anki and be done.

But I can't seem to figure out how to do this. I do have Notepad++ if it matters, and any suggestions besides what I've outlined will be most appreciated.

If anyone here can provide me with a solution, I promise I will Venmo you $100 because you will have saved me a TON of time.
