pool maintenance is a major chore. You might as well be buying an expensive pet that grows algae.

That's why you hire a company to come do the major maintenance. But also the pool I'm getting is salt water with UV filtration and minimal chemicals.

But why does it matter if it takes maintenance? Lots of things take maintenance. Your house, your car, your body. What does it matter

Yeah I'm not so sure the dude is squeaky clean especially when you start digging into all those private messages that came to light. Charges being dismissed does not equate to innocence and even if he were innocent he still has to reconcile all those creepy messages to underage girls, telling that one woman who opened up about her trauma that he had "kinks" about that sort of thing, etc etc. Wonder what sorta stuff would come to light in a defamation suit...

Only if he can prove what was alleged was false. The threshold for proving defamation is really high. Just because criminal charges were dropped doesn't mean he didn't actually do what was alleged.

Since COVID started I ended a long term relationship, got chin lipo, paid off my car, became sole owner of my house, started a new wonderful relationship, graduated with my Master's degree and got a great new job.

Big momma chiming in! Would you try to get a personal loan or a HELOC? Are you planning to finance the majority of the project? If the costs end up going over (and we know they will) that could be shitty circumstances to have wrapped up in a loan.

Sorry just been researching to prepare for my own home renovation projects and am uncomfortable of being leveraged for $50,000+ in a loan that isn't a mortgage.

This is what I have no idea about and need help with. I don't know where to start with my best financing options. HELOC is confusing to me. I was able to find several companies that offer low interest rate loans for high credit that are like 15 year pool loans. I really want to keep my payment low.

With contractors that's not really the case, and it really depends on how big the job is. If it's a smaller one, it can be pain in the ass just trying to get a response from them while they're focused on bigger jobs.

I read natural pools on average cost about $80k so it's a huge expense. I really want one and I'm willing to get a loan for that but it makes me really nervous to make such a ginormous purchase.

I'm not getting a conventional pool because those are a lot of maintenance and they are bad for the environment. I'm getting a natural pool that uses no chemicals and filters the water by using pumps to have it constantly flowing through plants and algae in a retention pond. It requires little regular maintenance. Just pool skimming. And you just replace the plants as needed. They never have to be drained and if you do want to drain it the water can go right back into the water table.

I want a private lake. I don't want a public gym pool filled with chlorine.
