Something separate. Once we agreed this was the right course of action my wife basically demanded I start to work with a psychiatrist. I jumped in on some of hers to work together on some stuff and then I'm going to go for some solo sessions moving forward.

Plus I have 500 dollars I can claim on my health plan for it, might as well get what I can before the end of the year.

I go for my first solo session with our psychiatrist next week. I am such a huge proponent of seeing mental health professionals but I've never taken the opportunity to do so until my 38th year on this Earth.

Her meeting with her EDS specialist is coming up in December. He hasn't really looked at the MAID stuff yet (busy dude, has way too many patients for the amount of time he probably has) which has made my wife very mad. The failures of our medical system has made her take a lot of the failures/realities of medical support very personally. For these MAID papers obviously they are the most important thing to her right now and she hates the fact that for doctors and specialists she doesn't feel they see it in that way.

I don't know how often her EDS specialist sees these papers; maybe it is just another day for him. I'm not sure.

I have my own topic on it, but I'm to the time skip for One Piece. That is 516 episodes. O_o

Im amazed how even in such crap circumstances you continue to find the will to look to help others.

Like, there is a logical side of me that knows not everyone thinks in the same terms as I do, but I really don't see how people wouldn't just pay it forward. Hell, if we get a 4k motorized wheelchair and I turn around and even sell it for like, 500 bucks... we've both just benefitted so much.

Why wouldn't everyone do that?

My wife and I both have some health insurance we pay into, and it seems her plan will give us up to 5k to get wheelchairs so long as her doctor says she could utilize them.

So we are gonna get a cheaper little "transport wheelchair" (designed just for me to push her) and then another one for her own use (electric or otherwise).

She isn't necessarily to the point of needing them, but honestly if MAID does accept her and she passes away, I would sell them very cheaply to someone in need or maybe even donate them to someone.

Also S3 of Mob has been not as good as S1 and 2.

Had an 11 hour workday today that included 7 hours of driving around, 5 of those when it was pitch dark outside on the highway.

JAKAS is tired.

My brother is battling stage 4 cancer. Has been for the past 3-4 years now. His body responds well to treatment but I mean, you can't do it forever.

He has paid off the house and now has gone on permanent disability from work. He did a lot of great work so he has good benefits.

I am sorry you're going through this, it may have been addressed but what country are you living in?

I am in Canada.

There are a lot of people who apply for MAID because they don't see a way to, for lack of a better description, move above being below the poverty line since the government doesn't support them enough through their disability. My wife would get some benefits but due to us being together she doesn't qualify. We get a disability tax credit which helps a tiny bit, but the world is not designed to help people who are disabled. Even the definition of disability is sorely lacking.

We are also planning for the potential of MAID not accepting her, which will also be a trip.

It's weird to be planning for both potential outcomes. My wife will not take matters into her own hands, so to speak, so if MAID rejects her, she will continue to do what she can as she continues to deteriorate I guess?

I think her EDS specialist will give us a lot of clarity come December, as she has an appointment with him then.

You may have answered this but why would you marry someone with that kind of medical condition? Did you know beforehand?

We have been together for nearly 12 years now. When we first got together she had some of the medical problems she has now, but over the years everything has deteriorated.

If you would have told me exactly how this plays out I still would choose to spend these last twelve years with my wife.

She has a very dark sense of humor. I love that so much about her.

We were planning on going to a concert next weekend but she doesn't think she will be healthy enough to go.

She wants me to go with someone else while I'm thinking of just selling the tickets. It is kinda a microcosm of our relationship entering into this new territory. I still wanna focus on doing things together while she wants me to get used to her not being around?

Also, MHA has been unbelievably excellent this season.

Gave it an 8. It feels like there was a lot of missed opportunity to grow characters that I found quite interesting, but maybe in the second season (if there is one) we will see that.

There was one season of the anime that took typing and shit real serious, then had Ash get bodied by Legendary pokemon in the final 4?

Do you see yourself being with someone else as a life partner? I kinda feel some shame in the fact that I assume I will have another partner. I mean, I have loved before my wife, I assume I will after.

The "widowed" part doesn't come up as often as you think. Of course it took til a few weeks ago for me to finally change my FB relationship status to widowed. For that first week or two you'll want to hit that booze. I know I did. Luckily I had st Patrick's day as an excuse lol.

That's intriguing to hear for sure. I mean I suppose people don't want to be awkward or rude/insensitive so that makes sense.

It is nice to be able to unload about some stuff for sure. Again I have weird thoughts about weird shit. Like, I am worried I will be labeled as the "Widow" after my wife passes away.

That isn't wrong and I don't want my coworkers and friends to feel awkward about talking about it... but I don't wanna be the dude whose wife died. It makes me feel very petty at times having thoughts like that. I know I am very justified in thinking about my future. I can't NOT think about my life after. And that's OK. But I don't always give myself a break about that.

I didn't either. It really wasn't that big of a deal honestly. Just felt like I was being scratched hard enough to feel it but not hard enough to be unbearable. Of course we all have our own pain tolerance and it can depend on where you get it.

My wife has a couple tattoos. It has a lot to do with where you get it.

I mean, that's some VERY limited scope. You could argue that her skill is to help SAVE people, not to kill others. Seems a little shoehorned in but whatever the series has been fun.

I have really enjoyed Lycoris, but this ending has been really strange.

So the Lycoris are a secret organzation as well as the boys version. Some mother fucker who I think did tests on kids decided to basically put all the work of these secret organizations to shreds cause his "prize" gal decides NOT to murder everyone? And he is.... sad about that? Considering she is by far the best Lycoris, WTF is your problem?

JAKAS buddy...you may think you're prepared and you'll be fine but...when that lady that you've been with for so long and had in your life for so long and gone through so much with. It sucks. You can't be prepared for that sudden emptiness in your life. I'm still not fully adjusted to life without my wife. I'm behind you all the way bud. So her rheumatologist here in the city said she could not accurately detail my wife's foreseeable decline and refused to do the MAID assessment... so they are now sending it TO HER SPECIALIST IN CALGARY ANYWAYS!

We've been on this weird rollercoaster for like a fucking month for them to just be like, "Welp, we coulda done that the whole time but we had to dick around for "local" information first"

Yeah. My entire family unit is amazing. My older sister said the weeks after my wife chooses to end her life I'm gonna be so annoyed by all the times I'm invited over and whatnot that I will need to tell her to leave me alone. XD

My parents were shocked that my wife's health was to this degree but supportive. I am very lucky to have a great support system.

Also episode 11 of Lycoris. I still don't REALLY know what's going on the entire time but it's been a fun fuckin ride!

MHA and Spy x Family were both awesome today. ^_^

I get to relay all this info to my parents later today. I know they will be lovely and amazing about it, it's just kinda the last big hurdle before everyone who needs to know in my life knows.

It's strange to be telling people since technically my wife has not even been accepted into the program, but I suppose whether now or 6 months from now or a year, this is always going to be what we are working towards... so might as well be all hands on deck.
