Portal 2 didn't have much MORE content, but it was infinitely better than portal 1. It's more than just quantity. It's unlikely for rayman origins 2 to be as big of an evolution as portal 2 was over portal 1

Which is probably why they should've started the game at $20 or $30 instead of $60. For a new IP, if you know it is really good and you are planning on a sequel, then building the install base is the most important thing. As far as I can tell, Rayman got about as much critical and cult praise and word of mouth as Portal 1, but Portal 1 was free or $10 for most people, so it spread way faster and more broadly, even being a PC game where the target audience is far smaller. And then once it was a household name... bam, $60 sequel.

Frankly, since theres been so many day games and I've been working, I've heard way more Price and Dickerson than Mario and Rod this year, so I couldn't comment. Price and Dickerson have always been superior, though I do still enjoy mario and rod.

I doubt it comes at a middle price. I think a lot of people, myself included, scoffed at paying $60 for a platformer when so many great ones come out on downloadable platforms now.
Then you actually play it, and you realize it was clearly worth $60. They have enough devoted fans now where they can do a $60 release and get plenty of day 1 buys. I know I'd be there. The same thing happened with like, Dead Space 1 and other games. New IP of sorts, gets most of its buys when its at a cheaper price, which leads to a sequel, then the sequel gets the $60 buys. -- Check out my gaming blog.. im talking about backtracking. going to each door, trying to see if thats the one you wanted to go into next when you've already been there. it's easy enough to tell which ones you havent been to yet, but when youve been in a room, and then give up, coming back is a pain.
